Remi Castaignon, 29, began the final table of the EPT Deauville main event with 9.9 million chips, which was more than double what his closest player had and about five times what the other players had. However, things changed drastically only half an hour after play began...
It took more than 24 hours of poker action for a winner to be crowned at the EPT Deauville High Roller. Vojtech Ruzicka, from Czech Republic, overcame a field (total entries 85. 71 players +14 rebuys) that included some of the best tournament players in the world (Jonathan Duhamel, Steve O'Dwyer, "ElkY", Eugene Katchalov and many others).
Cada's Poker and Sports Grill in Sterling Heights has been closed down temporary. The owners, Jerry Cada (Joe's father) and Patrick Bernhardt, voluntarily closed the place while an investigation into its liquor license is under way.
The final table is getting closer and closer as only 23 players remain after 4 days of play at the 2013 EPT Deauville Main Event. Like all the other days, Day 5 will have a new chip leader: Cyril Andre (picture) from France with 2,108,000 chips! His closest opponent is Remi Castaignon with 1,997,000.
The remaining 23 players, all of whom are guaranteed €23,000, will return to the tables in a few hours and play until 8 remain (guaranteed a minimum payday of €60k each). The final table will be played on Saturday and there's a €770,000 first-place prize up for grabs!
The High Roller (buy-in €10,000+€300) kicked off yesterday with 71 players (plus 14 €10k rebuys). There were a lot of familiar faces in the field: Eugene Katchalov, Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier (picture), Michael Tureniec, Steve O'Dwyer, Kevin MacPhee etc.
After the Finnish poker pro Patrik Antonius had swept Rui Cao (France) clean in a Triple Draw match last Friday at Full Tilt Poker, Cao suggested that the two should start a $1 million challenge consisting of pot-limit Omaha ($350k match), no-limit hold'em ($350k) and 2-7 triple draw ($300k).
On Wednesday, the challenge kicked off at a $1,500/$3,000 2-7 Triple Draw table at Full Tilt Poker. Cao won $15k in the very first hand of the match and remained in front through out the match. In fact, it only took about 3 hours and 350 hands for him to take $300,000 from Antonius.
There is still no information on when the second match will be played. Let's hope that it won't take too long!
Day 3 of the Main Event started with 154 players and concluded with 51 after 8 hours of play. Shadaf Hadaya, who's playing his first ever EPT, is the new chip leader with 1,237,000 chips - about 200k more than his closet opponent Matthieu Herve.
Matthias De Meulder, Sandra Naujoks, Vanessa Rousso, Fabrice Soulier and Freddy Deeb were all sent packing during Day 3, which means that there aren't any familiar faces left in the tournament. But of course it does not necessary mean that the rest of the tournament will be boring. A first prize of €770,000 is up for grabs and all of the remaining players are guaranteed €13,500.

The field has been reduced to 155 players over 2 days of play, and Andrei Stoenescu, a former third place finisher at EPT Madrid, holds lead with 485,600 chips. There are 3 PokerStars Pros left in the tournament: Matthias De Meulder (186k), Sandra Naujoks (73k), and Vanessa Rousso (34k). A part from those three, Fabrice Soulier (126k) and Freddy Deeb (114k) are 2 familiar names who are "alive and kicking".

Just another player needs to be eliminated before everyone's guaranteed a minimum payday of $500,000 (AUD) - with the chance of laying hands on $2,000,000 (AUD)!!

It's a fact that David "Viffer" Peat and Shawn "Sheikh" Sheikhan (both well-known from GSN's High Stakes Poker) don't like each other. About 2 years ago the two created headlines when they started fighting during a tournament in Las Vegas. Now history has repeated itself...
On Tuesday, a video montage of alleged cheating at the 2009 Partouche Poker Tour Grand Final was posted on You Tube by Nordine Bouya. Bouya claims that the winner Paul Pierre Pasqualini and Cedric Rossi, who finished second, used a simple code to signal to each other what cards they had.
