CHICAGO -- The Dodgers won a most unique challenge in the bottom of the second inning Tuesday night. As first baseman Adrian Gonzalez reached over the tarp for Cubs pitcher Jason Hammel's foul popup, a fan with a baby cradled in his left arm reached over the short brick wall with his right hand and barehanded the ball. The fan dropped neither the baby (who was sucking on a bottle) nor the ball.

MIAMI -- The Marlins are bracing to be without star slugger Giancarlo Stanton for a while. Sources tell MLB.com that Stanton has a broken hamate bone in his left hand and will miss the next 4-6 weeks. The injury will require surgery, but it is not believe Stanton has suffered any ligament damage. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal first reported the nature of the injury. The team has not confirmed or updated Stanton's status since Friday night.
