Hamilton steps up despite Big A boo-birds
ANAHEIM -- Josh Hamilton came back, he got booed, and then he conquered. For one night, Hamilton got the upper hand on all those Angels fans who are still frothing over his two subpar years in Anaheim. Hamilton answered the boos by going 2-for-4 with a double and a single, starting both Rangers rallies and scoring two runs in a 4-2 victory over the Angels. "It is important to have a good game anytime, no matter where I'm at or who we are playing against," Hamilton said. "It was nothing special tonight."

A-Rod's third HR of night sparks Yanks' rally
MINNEAPOLIS -- A year that began with Alex Rodriguez being told that he must compete for his roster spot has seen him again become one of the most feared sluggers in the sport. In this improbable comeback story, the Yankees have learned to anticipate the unexpected. Rodriguez rescued his team with the fifth three-homer game of his career on Saturday night, including a game-tying drive in the ninth inning off closer Glen Perkins, as the Yankees rallied for an 8-5 victory over the Twins. And after the first two homers, they actually expected a third.

Greinke's streak ends in NY at 45 2/3 innings Dodgers right-hander allows first run since June 13
NEW YORK -- The Mets ended Zack Greinke's scoreless streak at 45 2/3 innings on Sunday by scoring a run on pitcher Jacob deGrom's fielder's choice in the third inning. The Dodgers lost the game, 3-2. Greinke apparently enjoyed pitching during the streak more than he did talking about it. "If anything, I feel negative about it," he said. "Now I don't have to answer questions all the time."

A-Rod 4th to homer in teens and 40s Yankees slugger celebrates birthday with solo shot in the sixth
ARLINGTON -- Alex Rodriguez celebrated his 40th birthday by doing what he has done more often than all but three players in the game's history: hitting a home run. Rodriguez connected with a Matt Harrison offering in the sixth inning during Monday's 6-2 win and slugged it over the wall for an opposite-field solo homer, marking the Yankees slugger's 24th of the season and his fourth in his last two games.

Correa, Altuve help pull Astros into tie for first
HOUSTON -- Jose Altuve drove in a career-high five runs, and Carlos Correa and Chris Carter went deep as the Astros rallied from an early three-run deficit to beat the Angels, 10-5. The two clubs now sit tied atop the AL West. Houston broke open the back-and-forth affair in the sixth, padding its tenuous 6-5 lead with four extra-base hits and four runs -- highlighted by Altuve's two-run double and Evan Gattis' seventh triple of the season. Eight of the nine Astros starters had hits, including four with multi-hit games.
