Cespedes unsure about defending Derby crown By Jason Beck / MLB.com
CINCINNATI -- Yoenis Cespedes has won the last two All-Star Home Run Derby titles. He's not sure yet whether he's going to try to win a third. "Still thinking about it," Cespedes said Thursday through a translator, "but it'll depend on making the All-Star Game." He won the 2013 title without being part of the American League All-Star team. He was a first-time All-Star at last year's event in Minnesota, and he became a two-time Home Run Derby champion, joining Ken Griffey Jr. as the only players to successfully defend their crowns.

Posey tallies rare slam-steal combo By Chris Haft / MLB.com
LOS ANGELES -- Buster Posey took a few evaluative seconds before summarizing how he felt about becoming the first Giants catcher in 112 years to hit a grand slam and steal a base in the same game. "It's cool," Posey said with a note of appreciation in his voice after the Giants' 9-5 win over the Dodgers on Friday night. Poking fun at himself, he added, "I'd like to know the odds of that, considering I've stolen six or seven bases in my career. I'd say the odds are really high."

Scherzer gets no-no! But perfect? No way, Jose Displaying power and command, Nats righty had a day to remember By Jacob Emert / MLB.com
WASHINGTON -- It started with a Josh Harrison popout to second base. It ended two hours and 21 minutes later with Harrison at the plate and no Pittsburgh hits on the board. Max Scherzer, one start after tossing a one-hit shutout, threw the second no-hitter in Nationals history on Saturday in a 6-0 Washington win. "It's definitely at the top," Scherzer said, stacking the rare feat against the rest of his many professional accomplishments. "My last two starts, this is some of the best baseball I've thrown, best pitching I've done. I just feel like I'm executing all of my pitches. I just continue to keep getting better."

Bodoe/Glimt vs Viking
It's obvious that the Yellow-Blacks will have big problems to keep their place in the Norwegian Tippeligaen for the next season, mainly because of their poor defense: only one team in this league conceded more goals since the beginning of the new campaign compared with Bodo/Glimt.

J.D. Martinez hits 3 homers, drives in 6 Tigers outfielder takes Tanaka deep twice, adds 3-run shot off reliever Burawa By Alden Woods / MLB.com
NEW YORK -- Just underneath Yankee Stadium before a 12-4 win on Sunday, a group of Tigers players took batting practice as they negotiated with assistant hitting coach David Newhan. They wanted Newhan to shave his head, and he was willing -- but they had to earn it. Win 10 in a row, he told them. But J.D. Martinez didn't want to wait that long, so he came up with another idea. "What about if I hit more than one home run, have a multi-home run game?" he asked. "I've never had one."
