Stanton has broken hamate bone in hand
By Joe Frisaro / MLB.com

MIAMI -- The Marlins are bracing to be without star slugger Giancarlo Stanton for a while.
Sources tell MLB.com that Stanton has a broken hamate bone in his left hand and will miss the next 4-6 weeks. The injury will require surgery, but it is not believe Stanton has suffered any ligament damage. FOX Sports' Ken Rosenthal first reported the nature of the injury. The team has not confirmed or updated Stanton's status since Friday night.

Red Sox left fielder heads to Boston for testing
By Troy Provost-Heron / MLB.com

ST. PETERSBURG -- Hanley Ramirez's seven-game road trip will come to an early conclusion.
After being hit in the left hand by a batted ball by teammate Xander Bogaerts and making an early exit in Wednesday's game, a hand bruise has sidelined the Red Sox outfielder for the past three games, forcing him to head back to Boston to get an MRI on the injury.

Meet the Matz: Historic debut for Mets lefty
Four RBIs is most by pitcher, Mets rookie in MLB debut
By Anthony DiComo / MLB.com

NEW YORK -- For hours, Steven Matz made Citi Field's clubhouse his home, arriving early Sunday morning with plenty of time to marvel at the "comfortable couches." Welcome to the big leagues; the idle hours are not so bad. It was not until he stepped to the mound in the late afternoon that jitters truly enveloped Matz, who fired his first 96-mph fastball to the brick behind home plate.
Then, just like that, Matz transformed into a force as dominant at the plate as he was on the mound. The rookie from Long Island cracked a two-run double in his first big league plate appearance Sunday, en route to a three-hit, four-RBI day in the Mets' 7-2 win over the Reds.
