Posted on 20 November 2009 by "T". |
It seems like Isildur1 (a.k.a. The Unknown Swede) has no plans on giving up after losing $3,3 million to Patrik Antonius a few days ago. Because already the day after the big losing session he was once again playing on Full Tilt's high stake tables. This time Isildur1 took on Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies in heads-up and played his very best poker as he ended up winning $1,3 million in no time. This session must have meant a lot for Isildur1's confidence, and of course the high stakes scene will be much more interesting to follow with a player like Isildur1 who's not afraid of playing sky high stakes against the worlds best poker players.

Posted on 18 November 2009 by "T". |
Newcastle United is the most successful football team so far this year in the England Championship (The divison under Premier Leauge). Newcastle's great success this season is of course thanks to hard training, its football players, coach and lots of other things. However, poker has also played a very important roll according to Kevin Nolan from Newcastle United.
Kevin says that its thanks to poker that the team can relax and have fun together after and before the games. Kevin thinks that this has brought the team much closer together and that the team spirit and winner instinct has improved a lot since they started playing poker.

The first Day of EPT Vilamoura has now been played. 136 players came to start and 76 of them made it all the way to Day 2 of the tournament. Among the players that will play Day 2 we find bracelet winner Marc Naalden and WPT Champion/EPT Champion Jason Mercier, just to mention 2 notable players. The one that will bring the most chips from Day 1a to Day 2 is Ljubomir Josipovic from Australia.
Day 1b of the tournament is being played at the moment and it includes a much more intersting starting field than Day 1a. Just to mention a few notable players: Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier, Huck Seed, Sebastian Ruthenberg, Vanessa Rousso, and Peter Eastgate.

Isildur1, the unknown Swede, has been on a roll since he started showing up at Full Tilt poker. Now, however, it seems like it all has come to an end referring to yesterday's big losing session versus Patrik Antonius. Patrik owned Isildur1 in PL Omaha and won over $3.4 million. Patrik has now won almost $8.500,000 million this year and is with that the second biggest winner online this year after Phil Ivey.
Isildur1 is still plus Isildur1 is still over $2 million plus since he started playing at Full Tilt poker. Let's just hope for Isildur1's sake that he won't go on tilt now and that we will see more sessions between him and "durrrr", because it would be really sad if Isildur1 disappear from the high stakes scene as fast as Martonas did.

The unknown Swede, Isildur1 started showing up at the highest stakes at Full Tilt poker a few weeks ago. Since then he has won millions of dollars against some of the world's best poker players. Another player that has been doing very well is Patrik Antonius who has won over 5 million dollars this year. However, last night, Isildur1 and Antonius played PL Omaha against each other and wrote history as they created the biggest pot in the history of online poker.
Here is how the hand was played out:

Posted on 16 November 2009 by "T". |
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies had a great session of poker last Saturday when he took on Tom "durrrr" Dwan at Full Tilt's high stake tables. After 1316 played hands, Ziigmund had won almost one million dollars! Most of this money came from Tom "durrrr" Dwan who has being losing really big money lately to the unknown Swede, "Isildur1". Dwan ended up losing a bit more than $800k on Saturday.
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies is thanks to the great session on Saturday now $4,17 millions plus this year and also one of the biggest winners online. It's great to see that "Ziigmund" is back in business after the tilt sessions he had a few months back.

The Swedish poker player, "Isildur1" keeps on winning big when he's playing against the American high stakes pro, Tom "durrrr" Dwan. It seems like "Isildur1"is very comfortable to play against one of the best high stakes players. When both of them were playing heads-up on Wednesday night and the Finnish poker pro Ilari Sahamies took a seat at their table, "Isildur1" instantly wrote in the chat that he wanted to play heads-up against Tom Dwan.
Sahamies left the table and the game could continue. After a while, however, Dwan ran out of money and had to ask Sahamies for $500,000. Sahamies gave him the money so he could continue playing, but the Swede kept on winning. When both of them decided to call it a day, "Isildur1" had won another $600,000 from Tom Dwan.

Just a year ago, Mats Sundin joined PokerStars as its international celebrity ambassador. In the beginning he didn't have much time to play in many of the major tournaments because he was busy being the captain for the NHL team, Toronto Maple Leafs. One year later he decided to retire from hockey and instead focus more on his job as ambassador for PokerStars.
One of the first major tournaments Mats played for PokerStars was in 2009 WSOP Main Event. He was doing very well in the beginning of the tournament and everyone were really impressed that he wasn't only a good hockey player, but also a decent poker player. However, when the first break started, he made a mistake that could have sent him packing.

Tom "durrrr" Dwan, the new Team Full Tilt member, had a really tough time when he took on the unknown Swede, "Isildur1" on Sunday night. The unknown Swede won $810,00 in Texas Holdem and $409,000 in Omaha.
In total he won $1,219,000 with other words. Most of this money came from durrrr himself. The unknown Swede owned durrrr this time, but as we all know, durrrr is probably not crying out loud for this loss, and probably he will get his revenge on "Isildur1" sooner or later. It just a matter of time!

Joe Cada, 21, became the new World Champion just a few moments ago! He and Darvin Moon played heads-up for almost 3,5 hours, and WOW what an heads-up it was! Cada started with more than double the chips than Moon. But Moon had no plans on giving up as he gave Cada a really tough fight and even overtook the lead for a while.
The big turn for Joe Cada came when he flopped middle pair and Moon pushed all-in with a straight draw. Cada's middle pair stood up and gave him the lead. Only 8 hands later it all came to an end...
Final Hand: Joe Cada has the button (big blind 3 million), Moon raise to 8 million. Cada double-checks his hand before announcing an all in. Moon dobule-checks his hand as well before making the call. 150 million is now in the pot.

The 2009 WSOP Main Event final table is now finally down to 2 players after 15 hours of play. Darvin Moon, 45, and Joseph Cada, 21, are going to play heads-up for the World Champion title and the first prize of $8,5 million on Monday night at 10:00 PST (Tuesday 07:00 AM). Joseph Cada has more than double the stack than his final opponent, Darvin Moon. However, both players still have plenty of chips and it will for sure be a thrilling heads-up to watch.
Phil Ivey ended up on 7th place Phil ivey, the big favorite to win the tournament, played very well on the final table and it seemed like no one wanted to double him up. But when Phil finally managed to get some action, the luck wasn't on his side. Phil moved all-in in before the flop with A K and Darvin Moon called with A Q . A queen came on the flop and neither turn & river cards were to no help for Phil. Phil Ivey ended up on 7th place and left lots of fans around the globe disappointed.

James Akenhead, from England, is a 26 years old Full Tilt PRO who will start the final table tomorrow with the least chips of the 9 remaining players. James hasn't been playing poker for a very long, but he has still been very successful and won over $800,000 online and live so far. At the 2008 World Series of Poker, he finished second in event #2 ($1,500 NL Texas Hold'em). With other words, he's not a newbie when it comes to playing in the World Series.
James will only bring 6,800,000 chips with him to the final table on Saturday, and he will need to double up at least 2 times quite fast in order to have some kind of chance of becoming the World Champion.
The 2009 WSOP final table is only 1 day away folks! Don't forget to vote for your favorite to win in our "Who will become the World Champion"-poll. For those of you who want to bet some money on the November 9 finalists, we can recommend KickOffPoker who also offers a €5000 deposit bonus & 45% cashback.

Antoine Saout, 25, is from Saint Martin des Champs, France and he's one of the 2 finalists that aren't born in USA. Antoine mostly plays poker online and there he has won about $200,000. Although he has been quite successful online, he has no records of any live tournament winnings, until now. This is Antoine's first ever WSOP and he won his entry to the Main Event through a $50 satellite online.
Antoine Saout had a really tough struggle to make it this far in the tournament. No one else than the other November 9 finalist Phil Ivey was seated on his left at the poker table for the 3 last days of the tournament. Now, however, both he and Phil Ivey are going to play for some serious cash on Saturday when the final table kicks off.
Antoine brings 9,500,000 with him to the final table on Saturday. He's quite short stacked with other words. But Antoine might have some kind of advantage because of the tough fight he had the 3 last days of the tournament. And who knows? Maybe he will be really dangerous if he mange to double up at the early stages of the final table.

Phillip "Phil" Ivey was born in Riverside, California February 1, 1976. When he was only 3 months old he and his family moved across the country to Roselle, New Jersey. Phil's grandpa taught him to play poker when he was just a kid, Phil then crafted his game playing skills amongst his co-workers at a New Brunswick, New Jersey telemarketing firm in the late 90's.
Used a fake ID When Phil was around 17 years old, he started going to Atlantic City to play poker for money. Of course he was too young to enter any of the casinos, but thanks to a fake ID card with the name "Jerome" on it he managed to get in. Phil used to play for 16-17 hours straight at the casino and sometimes he missed the last bus home so that he had to sleep on a bench near the casino. The casino staff used to call him "No home Jerome" because of that.

Kevin Schaffel, 52, a father of 2, was born and raised in Miami and is these days living Florida, USA. Kevin started playing poker at home with his family when he was just 11 years old. Many years later, he understood that he had some sort of talent for tournament poker and that he actually could make some money out of it. And so he did. Kevin has cashed in 7 bigger tournaments and won over $600,000 during his poker career. Even though he has been so successful and made so much money, he still wants more...
Aiming high Kevin's ambitions with poker part from making money, has always been to win either a WSOP Main Event, or a WPT title. If he wins the Main Event, which is the biggest dream for him, he will retire straight away and play poker and golf full-time.
Final table Kevin Schaffel brings 12,390,000 chips with him to the final table and is with that on 6th place. He doesn't see a quite short stacked Phil Ivey as a really big threat (like many of the other November 9 players) and he thinks that he has a decent chance of taking home the tournament even though he's far behind some of the players in chips.
