final table, Joseph Cada, main event, november 9, world series of poker, wsop.
Posted on 04 November 2009 by "T". |
Joseph Cada is only 21 years old and the youngest player on the final table. Joseph has been playing poker for 6 years and he started playing poker online at Party Poker at the age of 16. After that, he has achieved a lot in different tournaments at Full Tilt poker. This year Joseph Cada played his very first World Series and took the world of poker by storm as he made it to 2 final tables!
On Saturday Joseph and the other 8 remaining players will have hundreds of thousands people from all over the globe watching them. It will be very interesting to see if Joseph can handle the pressure like he said he could in an interview some time ago.
After some research about Joseph Cada it stands clear that he's one of the November 9 players that people talk the most about on different forums and websites. Many think that he won't have a chance on the final table, when others think that he has a great chance of becoming one of the last remaining players, but maybe not another Peter Eastgate.

Bankrollmob’s ultimate break from poker – RummyRoyal – is inviting you to their mid-month freeroll of Rummy 500 with $100 in prizes. The November 1st freeroll was very successful so we decided to keep the Rummy 500 game for this one as well. Freeroll will take place on November 12th, Thursday, 19:00 GMT. Also, on November 15th RummyRoyal is hosting a Kalooki 51 Tournament of $30,000 in prizes. This may not sound a lot comparing to the big poker tourneys, but the ratio is by far better. In RummyRoyal the odds of winning a prize is 10 times better since they have only 200-300 players per tourney. Read more about it on their website.Read more » Rummy Freeoll and $30,000 Tournament

final table, Jeff Shulman, november 9, world series of poker, wsop.
Posted on 04 November 2009 by "T". |
Jeff Shulman, 34, was born and bred in Seattle, Washington and later on in life he moved to Las Vegas, where he's still living today with his wife and child. Jeff's biggest interests are golf, poker, and his job as editor for a big poker magazine, which his dad is the CEO of. But it's not from playing golf, or his job as an editor that has made him rich and famous.
Made millions from playing poker When Jeff started playing poker in 3rd grade at summer camp, he probably couldn't even dream of how successful he would become in poker some years after. Jeff became a good all-round player, but especially good at playing live poker tournaments, and it's from that he has built a fortune. In total he has won over $2,4 millions from different events in EPT, WPT, WSOP etc. Even though he has made so much money from different live tournaments, he has only won 1 major tournament.

Steven Begleiter, 47, reside in Chappaqua, New York with his family. Steven is a former executive for the investment bank Bear Stearns, where he has worked for almost 25 years. His interest for poker started already when he was a kid, and since then he has been playing poker regulary, but never for high stakes as he sees poker as a social thing.
He won his entry fee to the Main Event through a poker leuage with 20 players in his hometown. Whatever his final total cash winnings are at the final table, he intends to share 20% of it with those 20 players.
When Steven entered the main event, he had no expectations more than just making it to the money. When he finally got to the money, he noticed that players started dropping like flies, which made him feel more relaxed. It was at this time his long awaited winning streak started as well, and suddenly he had made it to the final table with huge stack. Steven Begleiter will start the final table on Saturday third in chips.

Eric Buchman, final table, main event, november 9, world series of poker, wsop.
Posted on 03 November 2009 by "T". |
Eric Buchman, 29, from Valley Stream, New York started playing poker 10 years ago and was in the beginning just a break even player. But it only took him 2 years until he started winning. During his career as pro he has achieved quite a lot. For example he has cashed 9 times in WSOP and also has some great results from online poker cash games. In the beginning of the Main Event, Eric just had the strategy to survive to the next day. But on the last day of the tournament he changed his tactic and tried to accumulate as much chips as possible so he would put himself in a position to win the tournament. As the final table kicks off on Saturday, Eric is on second place with 34,800,000 chips.

With only 5 days left to go before the 2009 World Series of Poker final table kicks off, we will put a lot of our energy and focus on writing about the November 9 finalists and other relevant information that might be of interest. First out is chip leader Darvin Moon.
Darvin Moon - The working class hero Darvin Moon, 45, lives in Oakland, Maryland and work as a logger. He won his ticket to the Main Event through a satellite at a casino in West Virginia. But even though he was going to play the main event, he didn't put his hopes up high, and he could never ever imagine in his wildest fantasies that he would make it this far in the tournament. He was wrong as the whole cards and the flops were the best possible for him from start until the final table. Now he has a massive chip lead and is the big favorite to take home the main event.

Posted on 29 October 2009 by "T". |
Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies, the Finnish poker PRO, has been running very good lately. The past few days, one has seen him playing lots of hours at the $2000/$4000 stakes at Full Tilt poker. His best game at the moment is 7-game, which he won over $800,000 from. A lot of the money he have won in 7-game has come from David Benyamine. Ziigmund has also had a few good sessions on the PL Omaha tables. There he has won around $200,000 (most of it from Phil Ivey). In just 33 sessions and 1555 hands Ziigmund has won $1,016,222.
Dream Heads Up It would be very nice to see a heads up match between Ziigmund and durrrr in a near future. Both of them are running very good at the moment, and both of them play a very aggressive style of poker at times, which means that the pots can be enormous. Let's hope for some durrrr vs Ziigmund action in the next few days!

durrrr challenge, full tilt poker, patrik antonius, Tom durrrr Dwan.
Posted on 29 October 2009 by "T". |
It seems like Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Patrik Antonius find it hard to find some time to play the durrrr challenge lately. And when they play, it's usually only one to two hour sessions. This time was different. In this session they played multiple sessions with shorter breaks over an eight hour period.
Tom Dwan has been playing very well in the durrr challenge lately, and it seems like the poker gods are on his side when he needs to get lucky. In this session Tom Dwan stayed in the lead against Antonius all the time and also took down the most bigger pots (around $200-$300k). An example of when Tom Dwan got lucky in this session is when he and Antonius went all-in pre flop. Antonius had a much better hand and flopped trips. At this point, Tom Dwan only could win with a runner, runner straight. Tom Dwan prayed to the poker gods, and the poker gods answered his prayers by giving him the straight and the pot of $190,000.
Tom Dwan has now increased his lead with another $82k. This means that after 27,185 hands of the durrrr challenge, Tom Dwan has a lead of $779,248. Of course it's still a long way to go of the durrrr challenge. Anything can still happen, and that is probably why it's still so interesting to follow the durrr challenge?

Posted on 28 October 2009 by "T". |
A new unknown poker player has start showing up at some of the higher stakes at Full Tilt poker. The nickname of this player is Isildur1, and he/she is from Sweden, just like the other "unknown Swede", Martonas. Isildur1 uses a very, very aggressive style of playing poker, and he/she managed to play over 4000 hands in just 24 hours.
Unfortunately for Isildur1 was that he/she didn't run so well on the $200/$400 NL Hold'Em tables. The Swede lost around $500k in no-time and decided to change game to $100/$200 PL Omaha. There Isildur1 played against Haseeb Qureshi for a couple of hours and managed to win $400k, which eliminated the most of the earlier loss.

Posted on 28 October 2009 by "T". |
Tommy Vedes from New York had a really tough fight for the win on the final table. Many times he almost went out, but then got very lucky on the river. In one of the key pots that brought him to the top, he was all-in with A-10 versus A-J and got a 10 on the river. Down to heads-up Vedes had a massive chip lead with over 13 million chips against his final opponent Jason Lavellee's 2.5 million chips.
This is how the final hand was played out (Blinds: 100,000/200,000 - Ante: 20,000).
Lavellee moves all-in with 2,775,000, and Vedes quickly calls with K Q . Lavellee shows 8 6 . The flop comes A 9 5 , and Lavellee picks up a gutshot straight draw. The turn card is Q . At this point Lavellee only have four 7's that can give him the pot. The river card is a Q , and everything is over. Tommy Vedes received $1,218,225 for the win, and Jason Lavellee $795,150.
Final table results: 1st: Tommy Vedes - $1,218,225 2nd: Jason Lavallee - $795,150 3rd: Craig Crivello - $477,090 4th: Freddy Deeb - $278,300 5th: Jason Burt - $208,725 6th: Shawn Cunix - $168,970

Jennifer Tilly, 51, is known mostly for her talent as an American-Canadian actress, but also for being a great poker player and the girl friend of Phil "The Unabomber" Laak. She has won over half a million dollars from different live tournaments, and also won a WSOP Bracelet a few years back. Jennifer has always been happy to share things in her life with others on the internet. But lately she stopped after she found out that some people were writing really bad things about her.
"It used to be really fun and interesting to speak to other poker players on the internet. Lately, however, I have read a lot of bad things about myself that made me feel really sad";Jennifer says.
Jennifer Tilly is only one of many celebs with similar problems. For example: Gus Hansen had problems not long ago with people claiming to be him by creating fake facebook-accounts and websites in his name.

In the spreadsheet with the statistics, Daniel only included poker players who played a minimum of 30 WPT events so the information wouldn't be to misleading. 176 players qualified for his investigation. Here are the results.

Posted on 26 October 2009 by "T". |
An 18 year old and a 19 year old decided to rob a poker player after that they seen him winning lots of money from playing poker at Daytona Beach Kennel Club Casino. They waited until the poker player had left the casino, then they followed his car all the way to his house a few miles away. They went in to the poker player's house and threatened him with a knife so he would give them the money he had won. Unfortunately for them, and luckily for the poker player was that he only had $10 on him because he had forgotten his wallet in the car. The 2 robbers that thought they would make some good money, only got away with $10.
The search for the 2 robbers The police were for a long time looking for the 2 robbers without any results. But in September the police finally got some information from an anonymous person that helped them arresting the 2 robbers. Both of them are now facing huge fines and also some time in prison. This is a great example of that crime doesn't pay off in the long run.

Patrik Antonius, the Full Tilt Poker Pro, has been playing his very best poker this year. He has won over $5 million dollars so far, and it seems like he's unbeatable at the moment. A few days ago he took on Richard Ashby, Gus Hansen, and David Benyamine at Full Tilt poker. Neither of them had a chance against Patrik Antonius, who had a hard time finding someone else to play against after that all 3 of them had left the table.
About Patrik Antonius: Patrik Antonius was born December 13, 1980 in Helsinki, Finland. Before his great poker career took off, he worked as a model and also had a promising tennis career in front of him. Antonius turned poker pro 2002 and became famous 3 years later after some great results in different EPT and WSOP events. Since Patrik Antonius started playing poker, he has made millions of dollars from cash games and tournaments.

A total of 203 players (Day 1a=88, Day 1b=115) entered the Main Event of EPT Warsaw this time. Of these 203 players, 148 made it to Day 2 of the tournament. In the lead is PokerStars qualifier Carter Phillips from North Carolina with 194,850 chips.
Phillips, seems to be on an EPT roll at the moment as he took home EPT Barcelona just a month ago. Luca Pagano, the Team PokerStars Pro from Italy, is still up among the leaders with 101,575 chips. It will very interesting to see if these 2 players will continue playing great poker and stay in the top till Day 3 of the tournament.

Posted on 21 October 2009 by "T". |
The poker millionaire Luke Schwartz has been a big talk about lately after that he got banned 2-3 times in no time from all the casinos in the UK. However, the thing that most people associate Luke with, is when he took a sandwich and refused to pay for it. Now he speaks out about the incident that gave him the nickname "sandwichgate".
"I had just gone out of the tournament during Day 2 of EPT London. I was in a very bad mood at that time and there was a really long queue to pay for the food. There wasn't a chance in the world that I would wait that long just to pay for a sandwich."
He continues...
"I have paid around $1000 in rake just to play in the High Roller Event and EPT. Who cares about a sandwich for £5? It should be free!"
Luke Schwartz is aware that many people don't agree with him about this. But it's nothing he cares about.
"I have better things to do than to worry about what these retarded people think about me"
