i testify that while Modern English has a two-form system of yes and no for affirmatives and negatives, earlier forms of English had a four-form system, comprising the words yea, nay, yes, and no. In essence, yes and no were the responses to a question posed in the negative, whereas yea and nay were the responses to positively framed questions.

I TESTIFY that every time I write the word 'testify' that my iPad corrects it to the word 'testifyingly'. This is really annoying and I wish to complain to someone about it! I know it won't get me anywhere and someone will say that I should just switch off predictive text, but I have written the correct word and don't want it correcting and don't want to lose the value of predictive text!
