Every Sunday, PokerStars and Full Tilt poker, arrange their biggest and most popular tournaments. And it's not for nothing that these two sites attract thousands of poker players week after week to play in their tournaments. PokerStars Sunday Million tournament has a guarantee of $1,5 million dollars for the buy-in $200+$15. Usually the prize pool ends up greater than the money PokerStars guarantees. Last Sunday, 7911 players entered the tournament and created a prize pool of $1,582,200. The winner came to be "Sosnoviy", he received $236,610 in first prize. The biggest "Sunday tournament" at Full Tilt poker is the $750,000 guarantees. Only half of the prize pool which PokerStars guarantee, but this tournament is still very popular as the guarantee is reached every time. The last $750,000 guarantee at Full Tilt attracted 4401 players who were willing to pay the buy-in of $200+$16. The prize pool landed on $880,200 and "DOOLfan" took care of the first prize of $155,434.

Cole South, gus hansen, high stakes.
Posted on 03 August 2009 by "T". |
Things are not going Gus Hansen's way lately. The usual flow in his way of playing poker is far gone. Not to talk about his usual "luck". Last weekend he lost around 1.4 million dollars. All this money, mainly lost to these 2 players - Cole South and Brian Hastings. The game these three played was Pot Limit Omaha, and it stood clear from the beginning that someone is going to win big...and someone is going to lose big. The big loser came to be, Gus Hansen. Gus simply couldn't get anything going this time and another big losing session was soon a fact. The biggest pot played was between Gus Hansen and Cole South. It landed on the stunning amount of $446,583 and Cole South won it with a nut flush. Let's hope that Gus Hansen will get back in shape as soon as possible. Because he's for sure one of the most entertaining high stakes players to watch.

Posted on 31 July 2009 by "T". |
Full Tilt poker has just released a new version of their poker client. The new client has a lot of new cool futures. For example, an advance filter which makes it easier to find the right game and also the possibility to list your favorite cash games and tournaments. The new client also makes it easier to keep track on statistics such as Full Tilt points, cashier, specific sessions you have played, and much more. Another new function is that it's now possible to "make a deal" on the final table in sit&gos and MTT's (multi-table tournament). For the once that really liked the old version of Full Tilts poker software, don't worry! It's still possible to use the old version, and the poker tables in the new version are the same as in the old one.

Have you seen the classic poker movie Rounders from 1998? If no, then you really have missed out on the best poker movie ever done (if you ask me). If you have seen Rounders and always hoped for a follow-up, your dreams will most probably come true within a near future.

On the 1st of July, 2009, a new law which forced casinos and slot machine halls to close down went into effect. The idea to this new law was brought to life during the time when Vladimir Putin was the president of Russia. Many casinos/slot machine halls already back then started to transform their premises into poker rooms, because poker was classed as a sport, and therefore it was legal to organize cash games and tournaments. But now, live poker is also banned in Russia and over 400,000 people that used to work at casinos, slot halls, and poker rooms, are now without jobs.

Last Friday we wrote about Nicki "Kaibuxxe" Jedlicka from Austria who won many million dollars online back in 2007, but then lost most of his bankroll to Phil Ivey and other pros. After that, Nicki Jedlicka disappeared from the high stakes scene and not until a few weeks ago he started showing up on the highest tables at Full Tilt poker. He started off by winning around $1 million in just 24 hours, most of it from Tom "Durrrr" Dwan, the American high stakes pro. That win truly whetted his appetite for playing more high stakes poker. Last Sunday Jedlicka took on Patrik Antonius and played the poker of his life. It was in this session, Jedlicka won one of his biggest pots ever - $409,481.

Nicki Jedlicka or "Kaibuxxe" which his nickname when playing online is, has had some huge swings in his short high stakes career. During 2007, when "Kaibuxxe" was only 19-years-old, everything was going his way and he managed to win around $3 million dollars in just 3 months time. But as we all know, the most things come to an end sooner or later.

Antoine Saout, everest poker, final table qualifier, wsop.
Posted on 24 July 2009 by "K". |
The players at Everest poker who qualified online for the main event must be really happy at the moment as they will get a share of $1 million dollars. All this thanks to that Antoine Saout from France who made it to the final table in the main event.
Not less than 53 players qualified online to play in the main event in WSOP through Everest Poker this year. Everest were really generous this year as they promised to add the total amount of money that their players made from the main event to a special "pot" (from their own pocket), a pot which their online qualifiers got to share between them. However, the maximum amount of this "pot" was set to $1 million dollars, luckily for Everest Poker, as one of their players has made it all the way to the final table in WSOP. All the 53 online qualifiers will now get $18,868 each, plus that they already got to play in the main event.
