About Rummy
Rummy is, like poker, a group of skilled based card games. The game is usually played between 2 to 6 players with a normal 52 card deck. The aim of the game is to get rid of your cards before your opponents and by doing so, get your points. This is done by forming two types of card combinations:
- Runs: Consecutive sequences of three or more cards of the same suit.
- Sets: Three or four cards of the same rank. If you are using two decks, a set may include two identical cards of the same rank and suit.
The most common rummy games are Gin Rummy, Kalooki 51, Kalooki 40 and Rummikub.
Every player is dealt 10 cards. The remaining cards are put on the center of the table as one pile of stock cards. The top card is turned over as the first card of the discard pile. The player next to the dealer is first to make a play. You either pick up the top card of the stock pile or the turned over card of the discard pile. Then you may place you hand in the two types of the card combinations. If no combination can be made, the player discard one card from their hand and the game continues to the next player to the left.
Once the stock pile is finished the discard pile is shuffled and it is turned into the new stock pile and the game continues.

It has been very quiet about Viktor "Isildur1" Blom in the past few weeks. The reason for this is mainly due to the fact that the he has been losing a lot of money and not been able to play the highest stakes on PokerStars. However, he was back at $25/50 and $50/$100 PLO tables on Sunday afternoon and took around $100k in no-time, mostly from some heads-up sessions against "Phiserman36".

WPT Malta: Jackson Genovesi Leads the Way Into Day 2

Tags: Jackson Genovesi, Jason Mercier, Jonathan Duhamel, Tony G, WPT Malta.
Posted on 18 September 2012 by "T".

The second starting day of WPT Malta attracted 105 players, meaning that that the total field size of the Main Event was 169-players. 71 players survived Day 1b and Jackson Genovesi had the biggest stack when it came to an end - 147,500 - about 24k more than Casper Toft, the "winner" of Day 1a. Joining Genovesi to Day 2, which starts in a few hours, are poker stars such as Jonathan Duhamel, Tony G, Jason Mercier and Vanessa Selbst.

In total, 104 players of 169 will return to the tables today with hopes of making it to the final table, where the winner will take home €120,000. Maybe not the biggest first prize we have seen on the World Poker Tour, but with so many good players taking part there is definitely some prestige in winning WPT Malta.

Just a few hours after Matthew Salsberg, producer of the popular TV series Weeds, took down the WPT Grand Prix de Paris, the main event at WPT Malta kicked off at Portomaso Casino in St.Julians. Day 1a only attacked a field of 64 players willing to pay the €3,300 buy-in. The reason for this might be because of several expensive WCOOP on PokerStrars and/or that WPT Grand Prix de Paris was to close.

This summer's World Series of Poker saw many sick hands, but the question is if this wasn't the sickest of them all!? In the hand, which occurred during Day 3 of the main event, 2 players (Henry Tran and Benjamin Alcober) bluffed each other until the river where Henry Tran finally hit a pair of deuces and made a hero call. What makes this even more amazing is that the hand was caught on ESPN's cameras! Watch and enjoy!
