About Rummy Rummy is, like poker, a group of skilled based card games. The game is usually played between 2 to 6 players with a normal 52 card deck. The aim of the game is to get rid of your cards before your opponents and by doing so, get your points. This is done by forming two types of card combinations: - Runs: Consecutive sequences of three or more cards of the same suit. - Sets: Three or four cards of the same rank. If you are using two decks, a set may include two identical cards of the same rank and suit. The most common rummy games are Gin Rummy, Kalooki 51, Kalooki 40 and Rummikub. Every player is dealt 10 cards. The remaining cards are put on the center of the table as one pile of stock cards. The top card is turned over as the first card of the discard pile. The player next to the dealer is first to make a play. You either pick up the top card of the stock pile or the turned over card of the discard pile. Then you may place you hand in the two types of the card combinations. If no combination can be made, the player discard one card from their hand and the game continues to the next player to the left. Once the stock pile is finished the discard pile is shuffled and it is turned into the new stock pile and the game continues.

When 63 players sat down at the tables and Day 3 kicked off, the tournament director had a plan to get as close to 12 players as possible. But in the end there were still 24 remaining players, and the man with the biggest pile of poker chips was the same as when the day started, Philipp Gruissem.

The relaunch of Full Tilt Poker is getting closer and closer and the new owner, PokerStars, is working around the clock to get everything ready in time. A part of the relaunch-process is to hire new staff.
In total, eleven positions are posted on Rational FT Services in 2 separate categories, Marketing and IT. In the Marketing area, a Promotions manager and a Product Business Analyst are available. In the IT field, nine positions are "up for grabs", including software developers, a Linux Engineer and a Java Developer. No salary terms are listed for the positions and the potential hires would likely have to move to Dublin to take the position.

Day 2 of World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris has now come to an end. The day started with 143 players (we got the numbers wrong yesterday) and ended with 63 after some really exciting and wonderful four levels of poker.
Philipp "Philbort" Gruissem will bring the largest stack (280,600) to the tables today, and there are many well-known faces with healthy stacks in the remaining squad. Just to mention a few: Juha Helppi (222,800), Faraz Jaka (157,400), Jason Mercier (140,700), David Benyamine (137,600) and Theo Jorgensen (126,900).
The money bubble will burst when 27 players remain - all players will then be guaranteed at least $17,154 each. The winner of the tournament will take home bank-busting $515,720, and the runner-up gets $341,149!

The second day of the WPT Grand Prix de Paris main event saw a field of 228 players. It was a very slow day, with nobody really willing to put their entire stack at risk. On the final 30-minute level, five or six players had about 100k each and battled for the top spot.

Posted on 06 September 2012 by "T". |
Greg Merson's road to this year's main event final table has probably been the toughest of all 9 finalists. About 5 years ago he finally managed to put an end to his drug addiction, and ever since he has been very open about his addicition in interviews.
For example: In a recent interview with ESPN, Merson said that he financed his addiction by playing poker in the beginning of his career and that he stopped caring about school and other things in life. However, he managed to quit drugs after getting professional help and then started taking poker more seriously. The kick he got from playing poker drug-free helped him fill the gap after he stopped with, for example, cocaine.

Ben "Sauce123" Sulsky has been doing extremely well at PokerStars' nosebleed tables in the past three weeks or so. In fact, as of September 1st, he was up $2,678,174 (over $900k from playing NLHE and over $1.7 million from playing PLO) this year, which means that he has won about $2k more than EireAbu (rumoured to be a Dutch pro based in Ireland) - the previous biggest winner of 2012 on PokerStars.
Now, it will be interesting to see how things turn out this week at PokerStars' high stakes tables. Maybe neither "sauce123" nor "EireAbu" will be in the lead next Monday? Anything is possible at these high stakes with so tough competition, so we will just have to wait and see.

Last Friday, a field of 73 poker players, including wealthy businessmen and poker stars, entered the first ever Macau High Stakes Challenge for HK$2,000,000 each (US$260,000) and created poker history. In total, 21 players made a rebuy and brought the prize pool to insane HK$182,360,000 (US$23,511,000). Plenty of big names hit the rail early due to the fast-moving 30-minute levels, and it didn't take many hours of play until the field had been narrowed down to only 8 players (picture), including notables such as Phil Ivey, Sam Trickett and John Juanda.

Posted on 31 August 2012 by "T". |
According to the latest report by an online poker tracking site, the poker traffic has dropped by 0.6 percent in the past 7 days. PokerStars dropped 13 percent in the past week after climbing 17 percent the week before. The main reason for this big change is that PokerStars' 85 Billionth Hand promotion started and came to an end during this period. However, PokerStars is by far the biggest and strongest online poker room with about 22,000 real-money players over the past 7 days.
Here are the top 10 online poker rooms as of Thursday:

Some of the biggest stars in the poker world are in Macau at the moment. The reason for this is that the Macau High Stakes Challenge, a $258,000 buy-in tournament with an optional rebuy, is starting today, with the winner potentially recieving about $5 million dollars.
The tournament will be played at StarWorld Hotel and Casino's Poker King Club and according to Sam Trickett, 80 players had registered for the tournament yesterday, including Phil Ivey, John Juanda, Erik Seidel, Gus Hansen, Joe Hachem. Trickett will also take part in the tournament. It might be a very expensive week for him if he doesn't get into the money since he just purchased a Ferrari 458 Spider with a price of approximately $257,000.

The International Stadiums Poker Tour (ISPT) team has been strengthened even more as the British poker pro Sam Trickett has joined as ambassador. Trickett, who is the U.K.'s all-time money leader with more than $15.4 million in live tournament winnings, will now work together with Michael "The Grinder" Mizrachi to promote what's expected to become the world's largest tournament in the history of live poker.
The tournament is scheduled for May 31, 2013, at the Wembley Stadium in London, England. The buy-in is €600 (1 rebuy or add-on possible) and 30,000 players are expected to take part and fight for a chunk of the €20,000,000 prize pool. The players will play online against each other at first, then the "laptops" will be put aside when 3000 players remain and live action begins. 1000 seats are reserved for players that want to buy-in directly (€6000) to the live part of the event.

Kyllönen, one of the most successful poker players online this year, told the magazine that he'll probably make the trip in 2014 after the testing stage is complete. He will have to spend three to four days training for the flight at SpacePort America. The space trip will only last for 2 hours.
