The second day of the WPT Bay Shooting Star tournament in San Jose, California is over. 24 players survived they day and three Shooting Stars are still alive in the field: Mike Matusow, Kathy Liebert and Mike Sexton. However, all of them need to double up 1 or 2 times to be able to make it to the final table with a healthy stack.
Joris Springael is the leader of the pack and he will bring almost 1.5 million chips to Day 3 of the tournament. In second place is Alan Sternberg with 1,1 million chips, closely followed by Vivek Rajkumar with a little bit more than 1 million chips.

The 2 starting days of the WPT Bay 101 Shooting Star tournament are already in the books. The field has been narrowed down from 415 to 170 players. The chip leader, Chris Trapani, comes from Day 1b and he will bring 197,900 chips to Day 2. For the Day 1b win, Trapani received a bonus of $10,000 and many think it's a fitting tribute to the memory of his father, Marko Trapani, who helped come up with the Shooting Star format back in 1997.

Peter Eastgate has since he won the WSOP Main Event 3 years ago already stopped playing poker once, then returned to the poker scene again and sold his WSOP bracelet on Ebay. There has been a lot of things going on in Eastgate's life since the big win in 2008, and it doesn't seem like he has any problem to spend the money he won.

It ended up being a very interesting week at Full Tilt and Poker Stars high stakes tables last week. Most of the online world's biggest stars were playing and it seemed like there were interesting games going around the clock.
2010's biggest winner online, Daniel "jungleman12" Cates, dominated last week's games. With a $8977,550 win he doubled his results this year and now he's the 3rd most successful player this year. Only Gus Hansen and Matt Hawrilenko have won more.

The WSOP Circuit Main Event in Atlantic City has come to an end. The tournament attracted a field of 442 players and yesterday the final table was played. After many hours of play on the final table there were only 2 players left, Brian Ali and John Andress.
Ali entered the heads-up with a 2-1 chip lead, and the stacks didn't change much the first half-hour of play. Andress then doubled up to draw even and it seemed like the heads-up match was far from over. However, everything came to an end shortly after...

"XWINK" is the alias of a canadian poker player who the whole poker world are talking about lately. And according to many, he's the new Isildur1 at Full Tilt Poker. Back in 2009, "XWINK" started with only $4,000 and turned his bankroll into $2 million in just 4 days! Ever since then he has continued to win at various poker sites.
In a crazy session the other day, "XWINK" played PLO HU $300/$600 and $500/$1000 against David Benefield, Patrik Antonius, Jungleman12, Phil Ivey, Andreas "skervoy" Torbergsen and Cole South - at the same time! Yes, he played all of them at the same time and was for a while $2 million plus but ended the session with a $1 million profit. A fantastic result!

Day 4 of The Big Event Main event ended up being the shortest day so far. 22 players became 8 in just about 5 hours of play and the final table is now set! Victor Ramadin, who has been the chip leader for the past 2 days, is no longer in the lead. The new chip leader is Jeremy Ausmus (picture) and he will bring just about 4 million chips to the final table.

The final table of The Big Event Main Event is not far away now as there are only 22 players left. Unfortunately Daniel Negreanu didn't last all the way and he finished in 37th place ($9,000). However, there is still a big name left in the tournament. Joe Hachem, the 2005 WSOP Main Event Champ, was playing very good during Day 3 and he managed to accumulate a stack of 610,000 chips (8th place).
The American Victor Ramadin is still in the lead. He continued playing good throughout Day 3 and now he has 1,6 million chips. But there are another 3 players with over 1 million chips, so there is no time for him to sit back and relax yet. We will return with an update as soon as Day 4 of the Main Event has come to an end.

Last Saturday, the tournament series The Big Event kicked off at the Bicycle Casino in Los Angeles. 417 players signed up for the Main Event and now, 3 days later, 70 players still have the chance to reach the final table and battle for some serious cash.
Chip leader is the american Victor Ramadin. Ramadin has played fantastic poker from the very beginning of the tournament and he has managed to accumulate 1,050,000 chips - double the stack than Jamie Kaplan in second place.
The biggest name left in the field of players is from Canada. Daniel Negreanu has 360,700 chips and is at the moment in 5th place. A win for Negreanu will take him back to number 1 on the All Time Money list, so we can expect to see him play his very best game.

At the end of last week the American poker pro Phil Ivey had a really good run at Full Tilt's nosebleed tables. It was in a session against Scott "urnotindangr" Palmer and Dan "Jungleman12" Cates that Phil Ivey won big. When Ivey decided to call it a day, he had won not less than $1,497,482! A huge win even for the biggest pros!
Another player that did very well last week was Gus Hansen. Gus won almost half a million dollars and has now won about $3 million dollars this year! Well, even though it's a huge amount of money, it still doesn't make up for all the money he has lost over the past few years.

Last night the American poker pro Erik Seidel won the NBC National Heads-up Poker Championship and received a first place prize of $750,000! Thanks to the huge win, Erik Seidel also overtook the lead from Daniel Negreanu on the All Time Money List.
2011 has been a fantastic year for Erik Seidel so far. He has won more in these 2,5 months than he has won in a whole year before. Let's now hope that Daniel Negreanu and Phil Ivey haven't given up for the fight for the top spot on the All Time Money List!

It only took 59 days for an American to reach the magical 1,000,000 VIP Player Points in 2011 with PokerStars. That means, he has shaved more than three weeks of the previous record from 2008.
Through various bonuses, tournament tickets, etc. it is reportedly worth over $ 100,000 to achieve the highest customer level, SuperNova Elite at PokerStars.
Last year 342 players passed the qualifying limit of 1,000,000 VIP Player Points, but none as fast as George 'Jorj95' Lind in 2008, where he completed it on the 18th march.
Nevertheless, that record got beat on Monday, when Andrew 'azntracker' Li crossed 1,000,000 VIP Player Points for 2011.Read more » New SuperNova Elite record at Pokerstars

2011 has started in the best possible way for the American poker pro Erik Seidel. Already has he made it to the final table in not less than 6 major poker tournaments and won some serious cash! However, the win at the WPT LA Poker Classics High Roller event, which was played a few days ago, must have been very special to him as he overtook Phil Ivey on Poker's All Time Money List.
Erik Seidel has now won $13,95 millions (50k more than Phil Ivey) and is now "only" $160,000 behind the leader, Daniel Negreanu. It will be interesting to see how this list will look at the end of the year. The top players in the poker world play so many tournaments, with large buy-ins, that it might change just in a week or two. Yes, when 2011 kicked off, Phil Ivey was in the lead. Now, only 2 months later, both Negreanu and Seidel have passed him.

Viktor "Isildur1" Blom had a really good session against Scott "urnotindangr" Palmer the other day. They played four $50/$100 Pot Limit Tables but the blinds were like $300/$900 as they decided to run the session with a mandatory 3-bet.
The Swede managed to win stunning $620,000 in just 743 from Scott Palmer. But Palmer was probably not crying out loud after this session since he's still up about $1.3 million for the year at PokerStars and Full Tilt Poker. Isildur is up over $800,000 at PokerStars this year.

Not less than 3 Swedish poker players, Michael Tureniec, Nikolas Liakos & Per Linde, made it to the final table of the EPT Copenhagen Main Event. After many hours of poker, Linde and Tureniec were the last 2 men standing. Then it took almost 3,5 hours before Tureniec managed to defeat his fellow countryman.
Michael Tureniec received nothing less than 3,700,000 DKK or about 496,000 EURO for the win. This is the second biggest win in his poker career ($961,902 - 2008 EPT London).

The first episode of the 7th season of High Stakes Poker was released a few days ago. A lot has changed in the new season of the very popular poker show. For example, Gabe Kaplan has been replace with the comedian Norm MacDonald and the game is now taking place at the Bellagio Casino. However, the biggest news (and saddest) is that no Full Tilt Poker pros will take part.
The main reason for this is that PokerStars is the sponsor of the show and also because they have bought the HSP achieves. In the early season of HSP, the players didn't wear logos and Full Tilt is concerned that the viewers will be confused by their affiliation when the shows will be available on, for example, pokerstars.tv

Finally it's official which 62 players that will take part in the prestige filled tournament National Heads-up Championship, which will be played 3-6 March this year. Some of the biggest names that will take part are Phil Ivey, Tom Dwan, Patrik Antonius, Daniel "Jungleman12" Cates, Sorel Mizzi and Gus Hansen.
Not less than 12 WSOP Main Event champs will take part this time along with Annie Duke, who won the tournament last year, and another 7 women. Personally, I can only come up with one name that I will miss in this tournament - Viktor "Isildur1" Blom. Well, take a deep breath before you check out the list of participants below.
