Posted on 22 February 2011 by "T".

Mark Hirleman, from Arizona, leads the field with 163,400 chips after that Day 1a of the 2011 EPT Copenhagen Main Event has come to and end. He and another 132 players are now through to Day 2 of the tournament. Three of the biggest names that will play Day 2 as well are Annette Obrestad and Johnny Lodden from Norway, and Peter Eastgate from Denmark. Anton Wigg, last year's Main Event winner, was among the last players to bust. Anton Wigg played very well and could easily have ended up as the chip leader if it wasn't for an all-in against Obrestad with AJ flush draw vs pocket 10's - an all-in which Annette Obrestad won with a set of 10's.

Day 1b of the tournament is about to start now. An even bigger field of players are expected today, so let's hope that it will be an interesting day of poker!

Posted on 15 February 2011 by "J".

Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates now speaks out about the defeat of Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom in the third edition of the heads-up challenge SuperStar Showdown.

When Viktor 'Isildur1' Blom on sunday beat Eugene Katchalov in SuperStar Showdown IV, he of course changed the overall statistics for the challenge, to 3-1 in the Swede's favor.

It may be difficult to see who will step up and end his good run, where he now has three wins in a row. The toughest opponent on paper, is last year's most successful No Limit Hold'Em player, Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates, but Blom already taught him a lesson in the SuperStar Showdown III.Read more » 'Jungleman12' : 'Isildur1' has evolved greatly

Peter Eastgate is back for round two! Here is his statement

Posted on 11 February 2011 by "J".

"Sometimes in life a person can feel lost and wake up one morning not recognizing who he is. Last summer that was how I felt. Prior to winning the WSOP in 2008, my life was very much a good solid routine of playing online poker and hanging out with my friends and family. Winning the WSOP changed that. I relocated to London and started a new life, the life of a high profile poker pro. For almost 2 years I was in a constant spotlight, travelling from poker tournament to poker tournament, doing thousands of interviews and never had a chance to catch my breath. In the whirlwind that followed winning the WSOP I lost track of the most importing thing in my life, myself.Read more » Peter Eastgate is back for round two! Here is his statement

Last year's high stakes King Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates, was thursday morning challenged to a heads-up duel by a totally unknown Swede. The meeting evolved mildly surprising.

It's not every day that Daniel 'jungleman12' Cates looses 47 buy-ins on a single headsup session.

However, it is not every day that he moves down as 'low' as $ 25 / $ 50, but both were exactly what occurred against Swedish 'Lindqvro' thursday morning at Full Tilt Poker.Read more » Jungleman12 looses 47 buy-ins in a HU session against mystery Swede

Jack Ury passes away at age 97

Tags: dead, jack ury, oldest participant, wsop.
Posted on 10 February 2011 by "T".

A legend and world record holder has left us. Last Thursday, Jack Ury , WSOP's oldest participant, passed away at the age of 97 in his home in Terra Haute, Indiana. Jack Ury took part in last year's WSOP at the age of 97 and, once again, he became the oldest participant at the World Series of Poker.

Jack Ury's most memorable moment, if you ask me, was at the 2009 WSOP Main Event in a hand against Stephen Friedlander. The flop came 7Spade6Diamond6Club. Ury bet 1,000 and Friendlander went all-in. Ury called and Friedlander flipped over 7Heart6Heart for a full house. At that point, everyone thought that Ury's tournament was about to end.

Ury waited a while before turning over his cards, telling Friedlander, "You're in trouble", before showing his 7Diamond7Club for a better full house.

Jack Ury will be missed and remembered by many! Rest in peace!

Posted on 10 February 2011 by "T".

19 players signed up for the WPT Venice High Roller Event (€10,000 buy-in) and 8 of them made it to the final table - Dario Minieri, Marcello "LuckExpress10" Maringliano and Dominik Nitsche were the biggest names and the big favorites to take down the tournament. However, it ended up being a fight between Bjorn Lindberg and Marko Neumann for the first prize of €70,700.

It was a very exciting and tight heads-up match that ended when both players went all-in after the flop - Neumann with a set and Lindberg with a straight and flush draw. Turn was to no help for Lindberg, but the river card gave him the flush and also all of Neumann's chips.

A big congratulations to Bjorn Lindberg, winner of the 2011 WPT Venice High Roller Event!

Alexander Kuzmin entered the final table as chip leader, but many pointed to Allen Carter (second largest stack and the chance to be the first player ever to win the very same WPT Tournament twice) as the favorite to take down the tournament. Carter played fantastic poker on the final table and was massive chip leader with just a few players left. But then he doubled up Force, who also had a big stack, and started getting unlucky in several hands.
