For second week in a row the american poker pro Tom Dwan ended up being the biggest winner again. Last week, Tom Dwan won $1.6 million dollars and has now won as much as $5.6 million this year. No one is even close of winning the amounts Tom Dwan wins at the moment. Some people think that Dwan might have a hard time finding opponents to play again soon.

Well, Dwan is a quite loose and aggressive player who it really can pay off to play against (not from own experience) when he's having a bad run. In other words, I don't think it will be an issue for him to find people to play against as many knows is just a matter of time before the winning streak comes to an end.

Tony G announced a while ago that the mystery swede Isildur1 was going to come and play in the televised poker show Party Poker Big Game. The deal was that Tony G was going to stake him for 48 hours and also pay for everything else (hotel, flight, food etc). Isildur1 was really happy with Tony G's offer as he even told him he could play without a mask and reveal himself.

So, we were finally going to see who the man behind the ninja avatar at Full Tilt Poker was. The man who lost and won millions of dollars in no-time and also has been in the headlines almost every single week since he crushed durrrr back in 2009. PokerStars NAPT (North American Poker Tour) Mohegan Sun Main Event was a huge success as not less than 716 players signed up for the tournament. One of these players was Vanessa Selbst, a student at Yale Law School and also a very successful poker player with some great results at the World Series. Vanessa got the the best possible start in the tournament as she won almost ever single pot in the first day. After that Day 1 was over, she had created a massive stack and also earned a lot of respect from her opponents. 

Anyhow, Vanessa never looked back after Day 1 as she remained in the top of the field all the tournament. And when she finally made it to the final table and was playing heads up against Mike Beasley, it only took her 7 hands to eliminate him as well and grab the first place prize of $750,000! A big congratulations to Vanessa Selbst!

A Broward County man was arrested the other day on suspicion of killing his wife. The arrested man and his wife were well-known in South Florida poker circles as they used to play a lot at the Pompano Beach Casino and also because their son runs a poker league that hosts games at bars all over South Florida.

According to a Danish poker magazine the worst player in the world is the unknown poker (until now?) player "Scout326" from Russia. He has played 78,000 hands and lost about $2 million dollars at PokerStars. "Scout326" has tried his luck at all kind of stakes in his favorite game NL Holdem - from as little as $1/$2 to as much as $25/$50. However, no matter what stakes he has been playing with -- the results have been terrible. "Scout326" has lost the most money at the stakes $25/$50, -$737,000.

"Scout326" is for sure someone who poker players stand in line to play against. And after looking a bit closer at his game, I have to say that it looks like even the average player could win quite easy against him if he continues this way. So, who's "Scout326"? All we know is that he's Russian and that he's someone with a lot of money. Would be really cool if an interview with him shows up somewhere in the near future.

We will get to watch an action filled 48 hour televised cash game where some of the biggest stars of poker (from all over the world) will take part. Congratulations to James Mitchell who took home the Main Event of Irish Poker Open yesterday. It was maybe not the most well-deserved wins ever, but one must remember that Mitchell had played great poker throughout the tournament and that luck is part of the game sometimes. 

Anyhow, when the final table was down to heads up between between James Mitchell and Paul Carr, their poker nerves were really put to the test as the 1st place prize paid almost the double.

The poker giant Full Tilt Poker is being investigated by a federal jury in Manhattan at the moment. The main owners of Full Tilt Poker, Howard Lederer and Chris Ferguson are 2 named persons in the investigation. They are accused of money-laundering and breaking the american gambling laws.

According to Nelson Rose, an author of books on gambling law, the government is trying to make example on Howard (right) and Ferguson (left) because they are both 2 well-known faces in the poker world.

There have been lots of rumors and speculations regarding who the man behind the alias "Isiludr1" is. 20-year-old poker pro Victor Blom was for a long time the favorite candidate, even though he denied to be Isildur1 in numerous interviews. Not long ago, the poker world finally got to know the real identity of the mysterious swede who's been winning and losing many millions of dollars online and also been in the headlines almost every day since he showed up in the end of 2009.

Niklas "Nicky" Power is a 40-year-old poker pro from Sweden, who moved to Ireland in the late 80s and is currently living in Waterford. He started playing poker under the alias "GoldieLocks" on the IPoker network and its said that he made $1.5 million in just 2 weeks time from a €2000 deposit (most probably thanks to his super aggressive style of playing poker?). The reason why Isildur1 has decided to revel himself now seems to be that he doesn't want Victor Blom to get all the credit.

Phil Ivey had been away from the high stakes scene for a while before he made his comeback last week. Straight away he showed everyone that he still knows how to play online poker with high stakes as he stood victorious in the most sessions he played last week. Anyhow, Phil ended up winning $390,556 last week. Not a bad comeback, ha?

Other players that did well last week were Tom "durrr" Dwan ($2,058,450), Patrik Antonius ($903,838) and "theAsMAN103" ($525,760). Tom Dwan is running extremely good at the moment and it doesn't look like anyone stand a chance against him right now. 2010 just seems to be the year when he will be the biggest winner.

A few days ago, Mike McDonald wrote in his blog that he will take a longer break from poker. The main reason for this seems to be that he has no motivation regarding the game, he has accomplished everything he wanted to, he would rather remain unknown, he wants to learn new things and "live a life that is more in touch with everyone else" and he wants to start his own company together with a friend. It's a very, very long blog post and many, many reasons why he has decided to take a break from poker. However, one can understand after reading the entire post that its not the last time we have seen him at the poker tables.

708 players signed up for the Main Event of Irish Poker Open this time. Now, after that 3 days of poker have been completed, we have finally reached the final table. These are the 8 players who will play the final table later on today.

The payout structure is quite steep, so we can probably expect a few of the finalists to be quite nervous, playing a bit tighter than they usually would do. However, it will for sure be very interesting final table to watch. The first place prize pays €600,000 and the second place €312,000. In other words, we can expect a very long and thrilling heads-up.

Last weekend a casino in Basel, Schweiz was robbed. Around 10 armed men broke in through the entrance door, dragged guns and fired a warning shot before demanding everyone to lay down on the floor while they went through their handbags and pockets taking everything of value. The robbers failed with getting in to the bank valve, though, they still managed to get away with quite a lot of money. So far the police hasn't arrested anyone and there are very few details left out for media to take part of.

This is the 4th casino related robbery in Europe in a very short time. In the beginning of February a casino in Malta was robbed. On the 6th March the Grand Hyatt hotel, where EPT Berlin took place, was robbed. The very next day a money transport truck was robbed outside Casino Cosmopol in Stockholm.

3 months have now passed on the new year. One must admit that the action at the high stakes tables has been over the expectations so far. This, even though Isildur1 hasn't been playing as crazy as last year. Anyhow, here are 2010's TOP 5 Winners.

However, not many believed that Isildur1 would accept the offer -- even though he didn't have to reveal his identity. Now, Tony G writes in his latest blog post that Isildur1 has accepted his offer and that he's even thinking of playing without a mask.

There is a swedish poker player with the nickname "ingsoni" who's running really good at Party Poker lately. "ingsoni" has won more than $500,000 at the stakes $25/$50 (highest stakes at Party Poker) in less than 80k hands. Rumors are circulating in different forums on the web that the new player is the mysterious swede Isildur1. However, many who have followed "ingsoni" and "Isildur1" for some time say that their styles of playing poker are totally different and that its not very likely to be the same person.

We will have to wait and see if the new super swede's winning streak continues and if he will try his luck at Full Tilt poker soon as well.
