Soon there will be a new cash game to watch on TV. The cash game is brought to you by PokerStars who also gives its players a unique chance to qualify online for just a few dollars and get staked in the cash game and play with pros from all over the globe. The minimum buy-in for PokerStars televised cash game will be $100,000 and the blinds will be $200/$400. The only PokerStars Pro who has confirmed that he's taking part so far is Daniel Negreanu.
PokerStars has still not announced any date when the show will be aired, but most probably we don't have to wait more than a few months. We will have to wait and see if the new cash game will become as popular as the Million Dollar Challenge was.

One have heard quite a few stories about men (not so often women) who have tried to hit on girls at the poker tables. Mostly these guys end up disappointed and losing money. Well, it doesn't have to be like that anymore! Not long ago, a big online dating site announced that they will start organizing amateur poker tournaments for singles.
The first tournament will be held at Casino Cosmopol in Gothenburg, Sweden on 1st April. A spokesmen at the dating site in question said in an interview with a poker magazine that they usually have more girls than guys when they organize activities for singles.

Last week the action was really great at Full Tilt's high stakes tables. Almost all the big names in the poker world were daily playing for some serious cash in longer poker sessions than we have seen lately. Gus Hansen, Patrik Antonius, Urindanger and Richard Ashby -- all of them did well, however, neither of them could keep up with the Finnish poker poker pro Ilari "Ziigmund" Sahamies who won almost $2.4 million last week, which is more than 4 times the money the second biggest winner of last week won, theASHMAN103 - $561,496.

Allan Bække dominated the last few days of the EPT snowiest main event. He reached the final table as big chip leader and continued playing his very best poker. Everything was going his way and there was no doubt that he would make it far. Anyhow, when the table was down to 3 players, Allan Bække, Russell Carson and Johannes Strassmann (German PokerStars Pro), his poker skills were really put to the test.
It seemed like it would take forever before any player got knocked out. Well, it took 3 hours of play before Johannes Strassmann was sent packing and left Bække and Russell Carson to play heads-up poker. Even though Bække had dominated throughout the tournament and at the final table, Russell had no plans what so ever to give him an easy win. It was a quite even game at first, but then Bække switched to his second gear and finally managed to win the heads-up after nearly 2 hours. For the win he received nothing less than €445,000.

Rumors that Scotty Nguyen has problems with his alcohol use has been circulating on the web for a very long time. That he was really drunk at the televised final table in the 2008 WSOP HORSE-event didn't really help him prove people they were wrong about him and his "so-called" alcohol problems. However, a few days after that Scotty won the HORSE event, he realized that he had done something wrong and therefore he apologized to all his fans in his blog.
Lately, many have claimed that Scotty cant play poker sober. Scotty now wants to prove them wrong as he said in a recent interview that he wont drink anything in the next few poker tournaments and show everyone that he's as good sober as drunk.

It took about seven hours of play for 24 players to become 8 in Day 4 of the EPT Snowfest Main Event. PokerStars Pro Richard Toth was one of the first players who were sent packing. However, his teammate Johannes Strassmann made it to the final table with a 2,034,000 stack (4th place).
Allan Baekke (picture), the chip leader as Day 4 started, continued playing good, if not even better, in day 4 of the tournament. He now has a stack of 4,868,000 chips and is the big favorite to take home the tournament.

Tony G has been interested in staking the mysterious Swede in cash games online for a long time. However, it remains unclear if they have agreed on something. Now, Tony G is offering to stake Isildur1 in the televised cash game The PartyPoker Big Game IV. Tony G writes in his blog that he will pay for the flight, accommodation and stake him for the 48 hour cash game. Tony G has even contacted one of the tournament organizers and fixed so that Isildur1 can wear a mask or something else in order to keep his identity hidden and remain unknown.

259 players in total made it from Day 1a & b to Day 2 of EPT Snowfest in Saalbach-Hinterglemm. David Wintersberg, the big chip leader from Day 1, had to give way for Team PokerStars Pros Johannes Strassmann (1st place -747,000 chips - right on picture) and Richard Toth (2nd place - 584,500 chips - left on picture) during Day 2 as both of them played amazing poker from beginning to end.
Day 3 of the tournament is now about to start. 86 players have made it this far (most of them PokerStars Pros and online qualifiers) and 80 of them are guaranteed to get at least €5000+. However, I doubt that anyone of the remaining players are happy with such small amounts after making it this far in an EPT tournament.

Joe Hachem's (2005 WSOP Main Event winner) little brother Tony Hachem took home PokerStars ANZPT (Australia New Zealand Poker Tour) in Perth the other day after surviving a field of 222 players. For the win Tony received the first place prize of $132,750. Tony Hachem is the most successful player on the ANZPT tour since it started last year. Tony's great success in ANZPT has given him a lot of attention from media and also helped him a bit further out from the shadow of his older brother Joe Hachem.
Final table results: 1: Tony Hachem, $132 750 2: Aleks Lackovic, $84 250 3: Vesko Zmukic, $47 500 4: Dale Marsland, $38 300
5: Tu Le, $32 000 6: Jimmy Wong, $26 800 7: Zaffer Soemya, $21 700 8: Eoin Kennedy, $16 600
9: Wade Beavis, $12 750

During last weekend the German police arrested the 2 last remaining suspects for the EPT Berlin robbery, Mustafa Ucarkus and Jihad Chetwie. 20-year-old Mustafa Ucarkus was arrested at Tegel airport after his lawyer gave authorities a tip on where he was.
Jihad Chetwie, the final suspect in the March 7th heist at EPT Berlin, turned himself in at Tegel airport after flying in from Beirut, Lebanon. It seems like he was afraid of getting caught in Lebanon and therefore decided to return to Germany and most probably German prison.
There are very few details regarding the money from the robbery. But its probably just a matter of weeks before we get to know the full story behind the EPT Berlin robbery.

A few days ago, Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu wrote in his blog that he really would like to have access to the Internet during the flights with his favorite airline Lufthansa. However, he admits that it can get really expensive playing poker high up in the sky. Not from own experience, but from what he heard from a Swedish friend who hoped to win some money to pay for his ticket but instead ended up losing $250k!
"I hung out in LA yesterday since my flight overseas leaves out of LA. I love flying Luftansa but desperately wished they had internet access on the planes. They used to, and I know this because one of my Swedish friends took that flight overseas and played online poker on the way in the hopes of paying for his flight. Instead, he went off for 250k lol... now that's an expensive flight!"

119 players survived Day 1a of EPT Snowfest in Saalbach-Hinterglemm, Austria. Most notable players in the top of the field among these 119 players are Daniel Negreanu, Alex Kravchenko and Arnaud. Many swedish poker players have been doing great so far. Not less than 8 swedes have made it to Day 2 of the tournament - many of them with decent stacks. In the lead is David Wintersberger with a 290k stack and on second place is Bernhard Perner with 257,500 chips.
Day 1b is about to start now. Lets hope that all tables will be filled up today so that there will be a nice and big prize pool up for grabs.

Earlier this week Vedat S turned himself in to police. His cooperation has been very important for the German police as they now have arrested a second person for the robbery at EPT Berlin. The second arrested man is 20-year-old named Ahmad el-Awayti. Ahmad el-Awayti surrendered himself to the authorities at a subway station in Rosenthaler Square. He went up to the police officers saying "I believe you are looking for me" and was then arrested without any fight.
The police are now looking for the two outstanding suspects, Jihad Chetwie, 19, from Germany and Mustafa Ucarkus, 20, from Turkey. It's probably just a matter of days before the police have arrested all the robbers.

Not long ago Tom Dwan offered Phil Ivey $1 million if he could stop eating meat for a whole year. Phil Ivey wanted $2 million dollars at first, but since he had thought about becoming a vegetarian anyway, he decided to accept the challenge.
The challenge was on and Phil Ivey "tried his very best" to stick to vegetarian food. Well, probably he didn't since it only took 3 weeks before he decided to give up and accept the fact that he cant be without meat.

The spectacular robbery at EPT Berlin is about to be solved thanks to that the german police has arrested a 21-year-old man who was involved in the robbery. The arrested man has already admitted that he was involved in the robbery, however, he refuse to help the police with information on the 4 other robbers and where the 242,000 Euro is being hidden. Even though the man refuse to help out with any information, the german police still claim to know exactly who to look for and they say that its just a matter of time before the robbers will get caught.

Yesterday was probably one of the most quiet days in a long time at the high stakes tables. David Oppenheim became the biggest winner yesterday with "only" $140,985 plus for the day. LarsLuzak ($117,913) and Brian Townsend ($79,480) grabbed the 2nd and 3rd places.
The one who lost the most money yesterday came to be the relatively unknown player "geoff7878" who lost $159,672. The mysterious swede Isildur1 didn't play at all yesterday. Maybe he needed a break after the past few days of running bad and losing big?

Isildur1 and Brian Hastings played heads-up on several PLO tables with the stakes $500/$1000 the other day. It started well for Brian Hastings who almost straight away won $300k from the mysterious Swede. Isildur1 fought back and managed to win back what he had lost plus another $400k after some time. However, it didn't take long before Hastings started taking down pot after pot. And after that Hastings had won over a million dollars, Isildur1 closed down all tables except 1.
This is of course nothing we are used to see when watching Isiludr1 playing. It could only mean one thing -- he was running out of money. However, the game continued and after that about 2800 hands had been played, they stopped. Hastings won $1,5 million from Isildur1.

The Danish Poker Pro Peter "Zupp" Jepsen had everything the most poker players could ever dream of - money, sponsorships, investments and a beloved girlfriend. However, during 2009, his life took a fast u-turn and suddenly everything went wrong. It all started with that he didn't win money in a single tournament and that he couldn't win a single big pot in the cash games he played in. On top of that, his investments didn't pay off at all and the friends he had lend money to couldn't pay him back. Peter "Zupp" Jepsen was dead broke after this and couldn't even afford to buy himself an ice-cream.
Unfortunately this was just the beginning as he was about to lose his health and the "love of his life".....

Posted on 16 March 2010 by "T". |
It seems like Patrik Antonius has no chance against Tom Dwan in the durrrr challenge lately. I'm saying this because Tom Dwan has dominated every single session they have played in the past few months. The last session was no different. It only took Tom Dwan 9 minutes/61 hands and he had taken $230,710 from his finnish opponent. Tom Dwan has now won almost $2 million dollars from Antonius in the durrrr challenge. Even though they still have to play another 17,000 hands, I really doubt that Patrik Antonius can win this challenge. Well, nothing is impossible, but if Tom Dwan continue playing this well -- he's unstoppable!

Another action filled week at the online high stakes tables has passed. Tom "durrrr" Dwan had a great run last week, he could especially thank Isildur1 for that, as he won $1,387,960 and became the biggest winner of last week. Even though Isiludur1 lost quite a lot of money to durrrr last week, he still ended up $595,874 plus. Isildur1 has won about $1.5 million this year and is in 5th place in the list over 2010's biggest winners. The biggest winner this year is still Tom "durrrr" Dwan. However, thanks to last week, he has now won about $3,5 million dollars!
Here is the top 5 winners & losers of last week:
1. durrrr, $1 387 960
2. Urindanger, $908 540
3. OMGClayAiken, $844 881
4. Isildur1, $595 874

Posted on 15 March 2010 by "K". |
BigBet Poker is throwing a series of freerolls exclusive for BankrollMob members. A total of eight $50 freerolls will be leading up to the big $500 Main Event tournament, which has a buy-in of $5+$0.50, but 1st and 2nd place in the $50 freerolls will get a free seat to the $500 Main Event tournament (plus cash from the $50 freeroll).
We did, actually, start with the freerolls yesterday (Sunday), but some technical issues at BigBet Poker caused us to re-schedule and we will host another one on Thursday.
The $50 freerolls run March 15th, 16th, 17th and 18th at 20:00 GMT. And again next week at March 21st, 22nd, 23rd and 24th, also at 20:00 GMT.
$500 Main Event is scheduled for Sunday March 28th at 20:00 GMT.
Remember, the freerolls is only for BankrollMob members who signed up at BigBet Poker through one of our links. If you don't already have an account, be sure to check out BigBet Poker's 110% up to $750 deposit bonus.
UPDATE (MARCH 16TH):
Unfortunately the freeroll yesterday (March 15th) was also cancelled. According to BigBet Poker, there are some problems with Merge (the network at which BigBet Poker is connected). They're working on it and we hope to be able to continue with the freeroll tonight. The first two freerolls that were cancelled, has been re-scheduled for Thursday and Friday this week (18th and 19th). Of course we cannot promise that everything will go as planned, but we hope that Merge will have everything sorted out by tonight.
We're sorry!

Will Omaha become bigger than Texas Hold'em in the future? That is a question that many people have asked themselves in the past few years as the game just keep on getting more and more popular. So why is Omaha getting so popular? Well, there are probably many reasons for this. The number 1 reason is probably that the game is similar to Hold'em but still much more action filled! Another 2 reasons could be that many poker players are simply getting tired of playing the same old Texas Hold'em or/and because the competition is getting tougher and tougher every day.

One of our active members, intentcity4, created a tribute video to BankrollMob.
It requires you to have an YouTube account to see it, in order to verify your age. It does contain some foul language and if you get easily offended by either language or by Hitler, you should not watch it.
We just gave intentcity4 $50 (5000 Mob Points) as a thank you for taking the time to make this rather funny video.
