Tony G is back with yet another trash-talking video. This time it's Erik Seidel, who Tony G knocked out from the PartyPoker Premier League V, who gets a taste of Tony G's sarcastic humor.
The preliminary heats of PartyPoker Premier League V were completed over the weekend and 6 players (Mathew Frankland, Sam Trickett and Tony G from Group A - Dan "Jungleman12" Cates, Patrik Antonius Scott Seiver from Group B) qualified for the final table.
The 2012 Irish Open main event final table was played yesterday in Dublin, Ireland. When the final table started there were 2 players, Ian Simpson and David Dean, with about 2 million chips and 2 players, Steve Watts and Thomas Beer, with 1.3-1.5 million chips. Many expected one of these 4 players to take down the tournament, instead it ended up being the smallest stack who took down the whole thing...
The 2012 Irish Open main event kicked off last Friday and saw a field of 502 players. Today, 3 days later, there are only 9 players left and the final table is about to begin. Unfortunately the final table won't include as many big names as it could have had since both Freddy Deeb and Phil Hellmuth hit the rail during day 3.
Tony G is almost always in the centre of attention when he's taking part in a live tournament. In Party Poker Premier League, which started 2 days ago, he decided to bring a few "card protectors" to the poker table - something that will make sure to get him as much exposure as possible in media.
The first 2 rounds of Group A in PartyPoker Premier League V have come to and end. Tony G took home the win in the second round for 16 points (and $32,000), while Erik Seidel finished second for 11 points. Tony G and Phil Laak now have 20 points each.
Group A - results after 2 rounds 1) Tony G, $40 000 / 20 points 1) Phil Laak, $40 000 / 20 points 3) Sam Trickett, $28 000 / 14 points 4) Erik Seidel, $26 000 / 13 points 4) Andy Frankenberger, $26 000 / 13 points 6) Eugene Katchalov, $18 000 / 9 points 7) Matt Frankland, $16 000 / 8 points 8) Luke Schwartz, $6 000 / 3 points
In the latest edition of the Weekly Rant, Daniel Negreanu talks about a meeting he had with Howard Lederer and Annie Duke on the Full Tilt situation, a vegan party at Cyndy Violette's house, his new soccer team, golf, ZOOM tactics, and more.
The €100,000 Super High Roller event will return on April 23 during PokerStars European Poker Tour Grand Final in Monte Carlo. Yesterday it was announced that 20 players have pre-registered for the tournament so far, which means that at least a €2,000,000 prize pool will be up for grabs.
Some of the most interesting players who will take part are Viktor "Isildur1" Blom, Patrik Antonius, "ElkY", Sorel Mizzi, Tony G and Daniel Negreanu. Viktor Blom won the last Super High Roller for amazing $1,254,400! That event was played at the Atlantis Resort and Casino (during PCA) in January this year and saw a field of 30 players (2 players made a rebuy). It will be interesting to see if the upcoming Super High Roller will be as successful.

In ended up being EPT Berlin winner Ben "NeverScaredB" Wilinofsky from Canada who grabbed the last seat in the prestigious PartyPoker Premier League - after beating Melaine Wiesner heads-up in the second qualification tournament (the first was won by Mathew Frankland).
In PartyPoker Premier Leauge, Wilinofsky will face an extremely tough field that includes amazing players such as Sam Trickett, Daniel "Jungleman12" Cates, Vanessa Selbst, Patrik Antonius and Bertrand "ElkY" Grospellier.
PartyPoker Premier League kicks off today and will run until the 10th this month. 14 pros are taking part in the tournament and lots of money is at stake since $200k extra will be added to the final table and all the players have paid $125k buy-in to enter the tournament.
Two weeks ago we wrote that Laurent Tapie, the director of Bernard Tapie Group, had moved to Ireland and that a relaunch of Full Tilt Poker in Europe might be reality soon. Yesterday, Pocket Kings Ltd., the current owners of Full Tilt Poker, put out a few employeement ads on jobs.ie
Pocket Kings Ltd. is looking to hire around 14 people, mainly customer support representatives, for 2-3 months to start with - with possibility of a full-time position. Besides these good news, Orinic Limited, a subsidiary company of Full Tilt Poker, has applied for a license at AGCC to offer online gambling.
There were some really interesting games running on PokerStars nosebleed tables yesterday. Apart from the SuperStar Showdown between Viktor Blom and Isaac Haxton, the night offered some action-filled games on the $100/$200 and $200/$400 PLO tables.
The biggest winner of the day ended up being Jens "Jeans89" Kyllönen, from Finland, who finished the day with a $258k profit in just 542 hands! "Jeans89" was playing very well but he was also very lucky in a couple of hands. In fact, he ended up hitting a 2-outer in biggest pot of the day...
It only took 3 days (3 sessions of $200/$400 NLH) for the $1,000,000 SuperStar Showdown to be concluded as Viktor "Isildur1" Blom won the remaining $218k from Isaac Haxton last night. This means that Viktor "Isildur1" Blom has won half a million dollars from Haxton since Saturday and that he's up about $450k against Haxton in the 3 SuperStar Showdown matches they have played.
After that the SuperStar Showdown had come to an end, Blom decided to play some $100/$200 PLO against some regulars on PokerStars' nosebleed tables. Things, however, didn't go as planned for the young Swede and he decided to stop playing when he had lost $142k, which still left him with a $76,000 profit for the day and a 3rd place on the daily winners list.
The $1,000,000 SuperStar Showdown between Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Isaac "Philivey2694" Haxton kicked off on Saturday. Even though Haxton took the command straight away and was up about 80k after only 500 hands had been played, it was Viktor Blom who dominated the heads-up and finished the day with an impressive $198k profit. Yesterday, after both players had got some well-needed rest, they started playing again. Blom had a really good start as he was up about $140k in the first 500 hands.
Danish poker players have been doing extremely well on the European Poker Tour lately, and yesterday the third straight win came when Jannick Wrang took home the EPT Campione main event (Italy). It was an extremely tough final table where Wrang had to defeat Olivier Busquet, the 2009 WPT Borgata winner, heads-up to reach the first prize of €640,000. This is by far Wrang's biggest pay day ever, with previous career highlights being a side event win on the tour and a 16th place in the EPT London main event.
Just a few moments ago, Full Tilt Poker under Group Bernard Tapie, announced that all necessary paperwork has been signed and that Full Tilt Poker will be open from April 7th 2012, where users can register an account, or alternatively use their "old" login details.
But that is not all! According to a statement from Group Bernard Tapie, a couple of new "faces" for the site have just been signed;
"I'm very proud to announce that Lionel Messi and Tiger Woods will be working as Full Tilt Poker ambassadors from next Monday onwards, with the main purpose being to help players improve their game, take part in various tournaments (2012 WSOP among others), events and bounty-tournaments with the rest of the Pro Players."
A special edition of PokerStars SuperStar Showdown will start this weekend and it's time to get really excited as $1,000,000 is at stake! According to PokerStars, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom and Isaac Haxton, who recently played a SuperStar Showdown, have agreed to sit down with $500,000 each on $200/$400 No Limit Hold'em tables and play 4 hours a day until one of them has it all!
Sounds pretty amazing, hah? It will amazing and very, very, very exciting as so much money is up for grabs and neither of them are afraid of pushing all their chips towards the centre of the table when needed. Haxton is the only one to beat Viktor Blom in the SuperStar Challenge twice and get away with a profit, so it will be very interesting to see what Blom's strategy will be this time!
The match kicks off on Saturday at 1pm ET. Don't miss out!
Day 3 of EPT Campione main event saw a field of 99 players. The plan was to play down to 24 players in six levels and call it a day, but the tournament directors decided to to let the action continue a bit into level 7 and then stopped with 24 players. It was a very long day and most of the players probably went straight to bed for some well-needed sleep.
PokerStars European Poker Tour is in Campione, Italy at the moment. Day 1a, Day 1b and Day 2 have been completed over the past 3 days and now 99 of 570 players remain. In the lead is Balazs Botond with 646,000 chips, and in second place is Ronny Kasier, the 2011 EPT Tallinn winner, with 505,900.
According to a Danish poker news site, Gus Hansen has once again returned to Macau and joined players such as Tom "durrrr" Dwan and Sam "tri1cky7" Trickett in games where millions of dollars can change owner in just a single hand.
The Danish news site has been in contact with Hansen ever since he arrived in Macau and they report that he has played in games as high as $1,3000/$2,600 with a $5,000 straddle. But things haven't gone so well for Mr. Hansen so far. A big chunk of Gus's losses is due to a hand against Tom Dwan in which he failed to bluff with a HK$1.7 million bet on the river.
A new "episode" of Team PokerStars Pro Daniel Negreanu's weekly video blog 'The Weekly Rant was uploaded yesterday. This week's rant from Daniel Negeranu is mostly about his forum ban, but also he tells a pretty cool story about Phil Ivey playing in a game at the Aviation Club in France when it was getting robbed.
Two Black Friday defendants have pleaded quality in the past few days. On Monday, it was reported that Chad Elie, a Las Vegas Businessman, pleaded guilty to conspiracy, a charge that will give him up to a year in prison.
Elie will also pay back the $500,000 he earned from processing online poker payments. Yesterday, Forbes reported that John Campos, the SunFirst Bank Vice Chariman, also has reached a plea agreement with federal prosecutors and will avoid a trial just like Chad Elie. However, it remains unclear what charges Campos will face.
What has happened to Ilari "Ilari FIN" Sahamies' game in the past few days? Up until last Sunday, he was the biggest loser online this year, with over $1 million in losses! Now, 3 days later, he has won back about $750,000 and nearly eliminated all the losses! Very impressive and kind of crazy at the same time.
The Finnish poker pro Ilari Sahamies, who was the biggest winner online on PokerStars last year, has had a really bad start to 2012. And in fact he was the biggest loser online this year until he finally had 2 big wins on Sunday and Monday. On Sunday, he topped the leaderboard after winning $143k at the $50/$100 and $100/$200 Pot Limit Omaha tables on PokerStars during a 4,5 hour session.
It was a very busy Sunday on PokerStars as there were several big tournaments running. The most interesting ones however were of course the Sunday Million ($1,000,000 guaranteed), Sunday Warm-Up ($500,000 guaranteed) and the MicroMillions main event ($1,000,000 guaranteed).
