Doyle Brunson has been gambling heavily for almost 60 years straight now. In the past few years however, he has cut down on the gambling and traveling and instead tried to take it easy and spend more time with his family. However, it seems like cutting down on the gambling part hasn't done him any good. According to Eli Elezra, one of Doyle's closest friends, Doyle has a hard time to appreciate life when he's not gambling. This is something Doyle also confirms in his blog.

"Damn! Just when I was feeling good and had decided to make a full blown run trying to win a bracelet at the WSOP, all of a sudden I feel lethargic with no energy whatsoever. Hopefully it's what I call the "Brunson Blues". When I don't have something to gamble on, I start feeling bad. It's hard to call yourself a degenerate gambler but I guess that's what I am. I've had 57 years of almost non stop gambling and I need that adrenaline rush."

When Mike Matusow hits the "headlines" lately it's never about him winning a poker tournament or lots of cash, instead it's usually about about crazy prop bets and similar things. In a recent episode of the TV show "Poker2Nite", Mike Matusow spoke his mind regarding women's success in poker.

It seemed like he wasn't all that happy with how well women have been doing so far this year. However, Mike is sure of one thing - they wont do as well in 2010 WSOP. He's so sure of their failure that he promised to run naked down the strip in Las Vegas if they win at least 3 bracelets.

Last year, Paul Zimbler wrote history when he played poker for 78 hours straight without sleeping. To be precise, he played for 78 hours, 25 minutes and 45 seconds. In other words, about 3 days of poker. Phil "The Unabomber" Laak thinks that he can break the old record and therefore he's also going to try. The world record attempt will take place at Bellagio in Las Vegas this year. However, time and date is still to be confirmed.

"I have played many long sessions, but I have never tried anything at this level. I know that this will test my limits, but I love challenges and I'm glad I get the chance to break the old record at Vegas biggest poker room." said Phil Laak in an interview with a danish poker magazine.

The police in Portsmouth (USA) must have been quite surprised when they received a phone call at 3 in the morning from someone who claimed to have seen a naked lady running around the block. The police had to investigate the whole thing and therefore they decided to send a patrol to check. The police patrol must have been shocked when they saw 2 naked persons hiding behind a fence. 

When the police confronted them, they informed the police that they had been playing strip poker with some friends. Unfortunately (for them) they had lost and the penalty was to run naked around the block. The police gave them a lift back to the house where the strip poker game took place. They decided to only give them a warning this time instead of file a report.

The danish poker pro Gus Hansen has been running extremely good in the past 2 weeks, and he's also the one who has won the most money during this time. However, it has been a tough struggle for Gus as the swings have been sick. Anyhow, he ended up winning not less than $476,603 last week and we can only hope that his winning streak continues so that he make up for some of the losses he had last year.

Brian Townsend had a very tough time at the poker tables last week. He lost $580k and we can only hope that he will run better this week.  Tom "durrrr" Dwan also lost quite big last week ($392k). However, it probably didn't hurt his bankroll so much.

24 players paid the buy-in of €20,000 and entered the High Roller tournament at WPT Paris last weekend. The field included notables such as the american poker legend Freddy Deeb, Kristoffer Thorsson from Sweden and probably the hottest player in the poker world right now, Sorel Mizzi. Freddy Deeb reached the final table second in chips and managed to stay there all the way to heads up against Sorel Mizzi.

Sorel Mizzi had a massive chip lead and probably no one thought that Deeb could win the tournament. However, 2 all ins changed everything and suddenly Deeb was the big favorite to win. Sorel Mizzi was a bit shocked after this and more or less gave up. It didn't take long before Deeb grabbed the first place prize of €290,000. 

"I cannot believe I came back, he kept making me call, but I changed my game and got a bit of a break." said Deeb after the win.

The poker superstar from South Florida who has over $6.9 million in career winnings is facing foreclosure as he owes almost $340,000 in federal taxes.

Record shows that 29-year old Mizrachi, who had a record-breaking stint during the 2005 World Poker Series, is hit by the IRS for $339,711 lien.  According to court records, his Hollywood condo that he owns with his brother, Robert Mizrachi, has been foreclosed and will be sold via online Auction this Wednesday.  His Miramar home has also been foreclosed and will be up for sale next week.Read more » Mizrachi, the poker champ owes $340,000 in taxes and is in foreclosure

Lyle Berman tells about the success of his new business.

The World Poker Tour Enterprise sold its famous poker tour along with it poker-related resources to PartyGaming.  They were left with $28 million in cash with a desire to make a new project.

During that time, there were no public statements on the direction they are taking.  However, Steve Lipscomb told Carol Player what the dissolved company plans to pursue and it involved something that is not in any way related to the poker industry.

The look of the new project has become much clearer in less than a year and everything has been “so far, so good” for the World Poker Tour’s former owners.

Danish Poker magazine "Ace" has announced that Ace #50, scheduled to hit the streets May 20th, will not be released and the company will shut down the printed version of their magazine.

The reason can be found in the new gambling law in Denmark, looking to be effective as of July 2010. The law will make it impossible for many foreign gambling providers to operate within Denmark, without a license. Such a license, cannot be obtained until January 2011, but nobody seems to know the exact requirements for a license yet. Without foreign gambling providers and their advertising budgets, "Ace" will be unable to continue with an acceptable economy.

Douglas Rennick said in federal court yesterday, “I had business that transferred money from offshore gaming sites to American players within the Southern District of New York,” as he pleaded guilty towards a single count of dealing offshore bets.

Rennick is a Canadian who is alleged to be behind quite a few online poker payment processing companies.  He will be sentenced on September 15.  Rennick’s lawyer said that his client’s plea will mean the forfeiture of $17.1 million as well as 6 to 12 months incarceration.

This is far less from what he could have faced if he had not pled guilty and then found to be guilty of all charges he is facing in federal court.

Aside from being charged of processing offshore bets, Rennick was also indicted last August for bank fraud conspiracy, gambling conspiracy, and money laundering conspiracy.  Should he be convicted of all the charges, he would be facing up to 55 years of imprisonment.Read more » Poker Processor Pleads Guilty in New York

There were 25 players who began day 4 of the World Poker Tour Grand Prix de Paris with the hopes of bagging the first prize which was worth €633,902.  The day ended with eight players in the finals with each player being guaranteed of not lower than €70,000 along with their position in the event at the first WPT which will be televised by MatchRoom Sports.  Theo Jorgensen led the way when the match had been decided during the early hours of the morning.

Due to a human error at Party Poker, our WSOP freeroll for May 10th didn't go as planned. Unfortunately, mistakes sometimes happen, so there's nothing else to do than to reschedule and give it another go.

We intend to reschedule the May 10th freeroll for Thursday May 13th instead. It's possible that the tournament will start 5-15 minutes later than usual, since we will be having two WSOP freerolls on Thursday (the normal one, and the one from May 10th).

As usual, all Mob members who will be playing any given night, will receive an e-mail reminder from us a few hours before.

If for some reason you are not able to make it for Thursday, and you were supposed to play May 10th, then all you have to do, is not show up. Instead, send an e-mail to wsop (at) bankrollmob.com and we will find another date for you. Of course we cannot offer you a second chance if you happen to actually play in the tournament on Thursday and not qualify, so only send us an e-mail and ask for a new date, in case you cannot play on Thursday.

Daniel Negreanu, the canadian PokerStars Pro, writes in his latest blog post that a ban of sunglasses in live tournaments should be introduced. There are probably many reasons why Daniel (and many others?) thinks that sunglasses shouldn't be allowed in live tournaments. However, these are the main reasons he is mentioning in his blog.

-Sunglasses make it easier to see marked cards

-Live poker is a human game that is different from online poker, and one of the skill sets is the ability to read your opponents.

-The absence of sunglasses makes for a much better television production. No TV poker producer will argue that. The fans and viewers want to see the emotion that is often covered up by shades.

According to Phil Hellmuth's twitter, Mike "The Mouth" Matusow and Ted Forrest have a crazy prop bet going on. Ted Forrest wants to lose some weight, and Mike Matusow said that he will give him $2 million if he manage to lose 22 kilos before July 15. And if he doesn't manage till then, he will still get $1 million if he manage before 24th September. However, if he fails, then he has to give Mike $150,000.

I have my doubts that Ted Forrest will manage to lose 22 kilos in such a short time, at the same time I doubt that Mike Matusow can afford to give him $2 millions. Anyhow, it is a very interesting challenge.

Titan Poker recently announced who the 7 Team Titan members of 2010 are. Sorel Mizzi (picture), the canadian poker pro who has had a fantastic start on 2010, will be the captain of the team. The other 6 members are Florian Desgouttes and Yann Benzinou from France, Jonas Klausen from Denmark, Marvin Tettenmaier from Germany, Sam Trickett from England, and Joel Benzinou from Belgium. These 7 players will represent Titan Poker in live tournaments around the globe until the end of the year. It will be very interesting to see if any of the other 6 Team Titan members can keep up with Sorel Mizzi. There is no doubt they can. Last weekend, PokerStars (in the connection with the last EPT tournament of the season) dealt out the EPT awards for this year. William Thorson, the swedish PokerStars Pro, received the award for best Omaha player. William has been very successful in different PL Omaha events at EPT London and Bahamas.

Maxim Lykov received the EPT Player of the Year award. Lykov won EPT Kiev in the beginning of the season, then he won a side-event at PokerStars Caribbean Adventure in January. He also finished in 13th place in EPT Snowfest + a few other good results in other side-events.

Patrik Antonius, the Finnish Full Tilt Pro, doesn't think think much of World Series of Poker. He thinks that the WSOP bracelets are bullshit because there are 100 WSOP events every year and because everyone has one. The bracelets are shit quality, false and probably not worth more than $50, according to Patrik.

"The WSOP crew wants to rob the players. They don't really care about them and it's ridiculous. They have moved the tournament to the summer time in Las Vegas when no one wants to be there. They are just doing it so hotels and restaurants will be filled up. I personally think I will stop playing the WSOP in the future."

He continues...

"No one wants to be in Vegas during the summer, anywhere else than there. Its a period when people want to have vacation and be with their families, but instead one has to be in Vegas for a shitty bracelet", says Patrik Antonius in a video interview.

Acccording to different rumors, Sammy Farha, the american poker pro, gave a $25,000 token/chip in tip to a dealer at Bobby's Room (Bellagio) in Las Vegas a while ago. The dealer was of course really happy and thankful and put the token/chip in her pocket straight away. However, it didn't take long before another player at Farha's table noticed what he did and asked him if he really wanted to give her $25,000 in tip? Sammy Farha then changed his mind and asked the dealer to give back his money.

At first, the dealer didn't want to give back the money. But Farha and some other poker players managed to convince her with 2 arguments. First off, they told her that she couldn't get cash for the token at any casino in the whole world. Secondly, they told her that she probably would have to check for a new job if she didn't return the token.

After a couple weeks of absence, Isildur1 was finally back at the high stakes tables this morning. He played a few thousand hands at the stakes $50/$100 and $100/$200 against the player Jungleman12. It wasn't a very action filled session between them. 

However, Isildur1 managed to win about $25,000 before they decided to stop for the day. Lets hope that we will get to see more action from our favorite mystery swede in the coming weeks, because the high stakes scene is not the same without him!
