High Stakes: Hansen and Trickett back in Macau

Tags: gus hansen, high stakes, macau, sam trickett.
Posted on 06 February 2012 by "T".

Gus Hansen and Sam Trickett are both back in Macau and apparently there are some massive games up running at the moment. According to Hansen's blog, he lost a massive 12 million Hong Kong dollar pot (about 1.55 USD) in one of these games.

"As expected my second session here in Macau was a bit more ‘swingy' than the first one. Unfortunately ‘The Swinger Party' was somewhat expensive as I rarely had the best hand at the river and tried one too many bluffs! I am currently playing my third session here in Macau and things were looking mighty fine until a 6 handed pre-flop pot turned into a 12 million (Hong Kong$) heads-up battle. As the smart reader has already figured out - I didn't win it "

EPT Deauville: Luca Pagano ready for his 7th EPT final table

Tags: EPT Deauville, final table, france, luca Pagano, Paul Guichard.
Posted on 06 February 2012 by "T".

The European Poker Tour Deauville Main Event is now finally down to a last table with 8 players. Paul Guichard, from France, holds the narrow lead over Vadzim Kursevich from Belarus. Guichard, who's known as one of the best players on PokerStars.fr, began the last day before the final table with 1.7 million. About 6 hours later, he had turned that stack into amazing 5,955,000.

The hottest name on the final table is of course Team PokerStars Pro Luca Pagano. This is his 20th cash and his seventh EPT final table. Today he will bring 2,010,000 to the final table and is second to last in chips. But with his final table experience he's still one of the favorites to take down the tournament.

There are some amazing cash prizes on the final table today. The winner will get a stunning 875,000 Euro, while the second place finisher gets 557,000 (could easily be the first prize in any major tournament). All the remaining players are guaranteed to get away with at least 67,200 each.

Berry Danson's crazy world record attempt: play poker for 5 days straight.

Tags: berry danson, guinness world records, phil laak, world record attemp.
Posted on 03 February 2012 by "T".

The Englishman Berry Danson will try to get a world record by playing poker for 5 days without a break. The attempt will most probably take place this summer at a casino in Manchester, UK and Danson will have to play for 120 hours straight, with small breaks when he needs to eat and use the bathroom.

The current Guinness World Record holder is no one else than Phil Laak who played live poker for 115 hours nonstop at the Bellagio in Las Vegas back in 2010. It will be very interesting to see whether Berry Danson has what it takes to break that insane record.

Martins Adeniya leads the way into Day 3 of EPT Deauville

Tags: EPT Deauville, Fatima Moreira de Melo, Luca Pagano, Martins Adeniya.
Posted on 03 February 2012 by "T".

Martins Adeniya started Day 2 with 115,000 chips and ended the day with amazing 512,00 and the chip lead. Most of the chips he accumulated during Day 2 came from a young, aggressive poker player that tried to bluff him in several pots. Adeniya figured out his young opponent's "strategy" quickly and managed to win some huge pots.

"I came into the day with 115,000," said Adeniya. "My stack swung around between 100,000 and 150,000 for a while, but then a young kid at my table tried to bluff me. I made a huge call on the river to get a full double-up to 250,000. I've just been building from there, picking up small pots."

-Another good change coming to WSOP in 2012...no off day during Main Event.

-The WSOP Main Event this year will be 3 days shorter without compromising structure at all.

-All days will play the standard 5 levels guaranteed...except potentially the last day. Start play at 12 noon, finish 12:40 am.

Meltzer's will: $500k to the doorman. $1 million to the driver.

Posted on 01 February 2012 by "T".

A few months ago poker player and music mogul Alan Meltzer passed away. Two days ago, the New York Post wrote what Melzer repaid faithful workers who gave him a shoulder to cry on - by making them rich after his death. One of them is upper East Side doorman Chamil Demiraj, who received $500,000, and the other one his chauffeur Jean Laborde, who received $1,000,000.

"I appreciate it," Demiraj said. "He was a generous guy. He was a really good friend of mine, and I was a good friend of his. It's a surprise. Peace and rest to him. That's all I can say."

"He was always joking. He never looked down on anybody,'' said Laborde, a 54-year-old father of five from Irvington, NJ. "He was such a nice guy. He left me money, but it's not a good deal for me because it means he's no longer here.''

EPT Deauville: 221 players through to Day 2

Tags: ept deuville, european poker tour, Kristijonas Andrulis, pokerstars.
Posted on 01 February 2012 by "T".

The first starting day of PokerStars EPT Deuville Main Event saw a field of 339 players. 221 of those players survived the day and will get one day's rest before it's time to get back into the action. The chip leader, Kristijonas Andrulis from Lithuania, will bring 162,600 chips to Day 2. Only 400 chips behind him is Philippe Ma, from France, followed by his fellow countrymen - Elie Payan (141k) and Julien Claudepierre (128k).

Unfortunately not many familiar poker players can be found in the top of the Day 1a field. Let's hope that Day 1b, which starts in a few hours, will take care of that "issue". We will return with an update as soon as Day 1b comes to an end. Stay tuned!

The 2012 Turbo Championship of Online Poker is now in the books as all 50 events have found their winners. Yesterday, the main event (Event #49) was played and not less than 3667 players took part in this event, which created a prize pool of $2,4 million! A player called "Betudontbet", from Mexico, won and received $382,855! Chris "ImDaNuts" Oliver , who finished 2nd in PCA last year, came second and got $285,310.

Another exciting tournament that was played yesterday was the $2100 High Roller event. Icallany, from norway, took home this event and received amazing $210,070. Posted on 24 January 2012 by "T".

After a terrible losing streak last weekend, Viktor "Isildur1" Blom took a break at 16:00 on Monday. It didn't take long before people started speculating in whether or not the young swede had cleaned out his PokerStars account. But at 01:00 am on Tuesday he returned to the $50/$100 and $100/$200 Omaha tables and continued playing.

Things went much better for him then, and after about 3,600 hands against several regulars at the nosebleed tables he got away with a $560,000 profit. Most of the money came from Phil "MrSweets" Galfond, who lost about $350k that night.

"I need to work on my all-in game." Galfond wrote on his twitter yesterday.
