Anurag Dikshit is one of the founders of the leading online gaming company PartyGaming Plc. He has now decided to sell all his shares in the company after earlier this year announcing that he "only" would sell 2/3. The reason for this is that he wants to leave the betting industry and instead work with charity in Asia.
Anurag Dikshit owns 28 percent (worth around £188 millions) of ParyGaming's stocks. All the money he makes from selling his share in the company will go to the charity foundation in Asia that he intends to work full-time with in the future.

Posted on 20 October 2009 by "T". |
Nearly 80 very successful athletes from different sports agreed to pose half naked in the latest issue of a big sports magazine. Four of these were Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Jennifier Harman, and Phil Hellmuth who represented the world of poker. The editor-in-chief of the magazine was more than happy to get these 4 poker pros to pose half naked in front of the camera.
"We were looking for big names in poker, and it's hard to get bigger names than the ones we got"
It seems like Daniel Negreanu, Scotty Nguyen, Jennifier Harman, and Phil Hellmuth all took the picture quite serious. However, Daniel Negreanu, probably took it the most serious as he said in an interview that he prepared himself for the photo by training hard and having a nice sun tan.

Posted on 20 October 2009 by "T". |
This time World Poker Tour visited Marrakech, Morocco, and created the biggest poker tournament in African history. Not less than 416 players signed up for the tournament, which had a buy-in of €4,500. The total prize pool landed on $2,450,223, and the first prize $563,551.
This historic tournament was however not won by a local, but instead by the Frenchmen Christophe Savary. Savary and Eoghan O'Dea came to be the 2 last men standing in the tournament. Both of the players had plenty of chips and it seemed like it could be a very long struggle for the win.
However, everything came to an end when Christophe Savary made his straight against Eoghan's top pair when both players went all-in on the flop. Christophe Savary received $563,551 for the win, and Eoghan O'Dea got $392,036 for the second place.
1 Christophe Savary $563,551 2 Eoghan O'Dea $392,036 3 Ludovic Lacay $245,022 4 Julien Arneodo $156,814 5 Adrian Marin $107,810 6 Benny Spindler $83,308

What many people probably don't know about Doyle Brunson is that he once was a very talented basketball player and also was one of the key players in his school team. Doyle's school team were very successful and even made it all the way to the NCAA playoffs back then. Now, 40 years later, Doyle Brunson has been inducted into the Athletic Hall of Fame by his old school. However, it's with mixed feelings he's going to his old school to celebrate his induction.
"I'm leaving in the morning for Abilene, Texas. My University is inducting me into their athletic Hall of Fame. After being turned down for 40 years I have mixed feelings, but all my old teammates will be there, so I'm going down and will be on my best behavior."

135 players came to start in Day 1a and 128 players in Day 1b of the APPT Auckland Main Event. Out of these 263 players, 130 made it to Day 2 of the tournament. In the lead we find the Australian PokerStars Pro Emad Tahtouh with 162,900 chips. On second place is the PokerStars qualifier Lance Climo with 134,400 chips.
Tony Hachem is still in the game with a 53,400 stack. Even though he has 3 times less chips than the chip leader Emad Tahtoch, his stack is still well above the average stack of 37,669. Last year's winner Daniel Craker has also made it to day 2 of the tournament. He has 37,000 chips left, but hopefully he will still make it to Day 3 of the tournament.

It was very close that Luke Schwartz weren't allowed to take part in the tournament, but in the last minute he made a deal with the casino management and got to play in the tournament. Luke Schwartz has now made it to the final table of the tournament. Other players that have made it to the final table are Andy Black, Mike Sexton, Phil Laak, Jennifer Tilly, Jan Veit, and Bodo Sbrzesny. Most notable players of these are of course Mike Sexton and Phil Laak.
Phil "The Unabomber" Laak has lots of great results from many major poker tournaments, but perhaps he's most known from his appearances in Poker After Dark and High Stakes Poker.
Mike Sexton has a long and successful poker career behind him. He's also the hottest candidate to get inducted into the poker hall of fame, which is the most honorable thing a player can achieve after a long and successful poker career.
It will be very interesting final table today! Let's pray that Luke Schwartz will manage to keep the fury inside of himself if he runs into bad beats.

Luke "FullFlush" Schwartz has been banned 2 times from all casinos in the United Kingdom. First time he got banned was when he refused to take of his hat, second time was recently, then he refused to pay for a sandwich during EPT in London. Even though he has been banned 2 times, he always seems to know the right people to help him sort everything out and abolish the ban. This time, however, he only got his exemption to play in PartyPoker's World Open V.
When Luke arrived at the Palm Beach Casino in Mayfair he was stopped by the receptionist who claimed that his banned from the casino. Luke got really angry and yelled at the poor receptionist who didn't have a clue that he had dispense to play in the tournament. After a while Luke got to speak to the casino management and they decided to let him play in the tournament on one condition - that their security team were allowed to keep an eye on him to make sure that he behaved.

Some time ago two poker players had their accounts and funds frozen by Full Tilt poker after that their security team found out that these 2 players had been using poker bots.
The 2 poker players, Lary Kennedy & Greg Omotoy, went to a lawyer and sued Full Tilt after getting their funds and accounts frozen. They also accused Full Tilt poker of using bots to increase the luck factor on the poker site (in order to make more money).

This is the second event of 2009 PokerStars Asia Pacific Tour, and the APPT crew believes that it will be a very successful tournament this year as well as last year when 306 players entered the main event and Daniel Craker won the first place prize $257,040.

Giancarlo Fisichella from Italy is a very successful driver for Ferrari in Formula 1 who now has signed as the new poker ambassador for Party Poker. Fisichella is quite well known for being a good poker player as well as F1 driver after he's impressing results at the Sport Stars Challenge IV in London earlier this year.
Party Poker will celebrate their new ambassador by having freerolls and tournaments for Italian poker players where they can play against Giancarlo Fisichella. I personally think that Fisichella can become a great poker player by time if he's as fearless at the poker table as he is on the racing track.

Gus Hansen had a great start in the beginning of the year with over 3 million dollars won. But then everything took a big turn in June and he lost all his winnings. Since then Gus has kept on losing big both online and live. For example: In September he lost $950,000 at Full Tilt poker, and thanks to that he grabs the (not so nice) first place in the list over September's biggest losers.
September's 6 biggest losers are,
1. Gus Hansen -950,000 dollar 2. Ilari "Ziigmund Sahamies -635,000 dollar 3. Tom Dwan -451,000 dollar 4. Tom Marchese -450,000 dollar 5. David Benyamine -426,000 dollar 6. Sami "LarsLuzak" Kelopuro -392,000 dollar

When Full Tilt poker announced their new televised poker show "Face the Ace", PokerStars followed and created their very own show called "PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge". In PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge anyone playing at PokerStars has the chance to win a seat online and then play against PokerStars biggest pros heads-up for lots of money.
First out in PokerStars Million Dollar Challenge was father Andrew Trapp. Andrew received $25,000 after that he won against both the NBA player John Salley and the PokerStars pro Vanessa Rousso. After those 2 victories he risked all the money he had won to play against Daniel Negreanu for the first prize of $100,000. And believe it or not! The priest had the poker gods with him as he managed to win over Negreanu as well.

Jeffrey Lisandro became the first person to win a World Series title in all three seven-card stud disciplines at the same Series when he won the Stud High, Stud High-Low, and Razz in 2009 World Series of Poker. Of course he has achieved so much more than this in his long poker career. However, after his great 2009 WSOP he started getting lots and lots of attention from media all over the world. But even though he has gotten all this attention, not a single poker site has showed interested in sponsoring him. How is this possible many people probably would ask themselves? Well, even Lisandro hasn't got a clue why his still without a sponsor.
-"There has been a lot of good things written about me in different poker magazines, and I have done a lot of interviews on internet. Still no one has ever offered me a deal. I must be a very valuable player for a lot of poker sites as I get a lot of attention in media? If I don't find a sponsor soon I probably start my own poker site and sponsor myself until someone wants to sponsor me"; Jeffrey Lisandro says.

7-game, Cole South, full tilt, gus hansen, phil ivey.
Posted on 09 October 2009 by "T". |
A new variant of poker called 7-game has become a very popular high stakes game at Full Tilt poker recently. A few days ago, Phil Ivey, won over $1,000,000 playing 7-game against different high stakes players. It seems like Phil Ivey can handle all poker games there are. This is very, very impressive if you ask me!
Other players that really enjoy the new game are for example Gus Hansen and Cole South. South dominated the game at first when he and Gus played heads-up, but then Gus managed to win back most of the money he had lost. Many of the pots when these two played landed on around $100k-$200k. With other words it seems like both of them are very comfortable playing 7-game.
What is 7-game? 7-game is a mix between the 7 different games below. Usually 10 rounds of each game is played before it switches to another game. For the ones that master all the 7 games in 7-game (like Phil Ivey), there is a lot of money to be made as many poker players who tries 7-game out are newbie's when it comes to many of the games.
Game 1: Fixed limit Holdem Game 2: Fixed Limit High/Low Seven Card Stud Game 3: Fixed Limit Razz Game 4: Fixed Limit High/Low Omaha Game 5: Fixed Limit Seven Card Stud Game 6: No Limit Texas Holdem Game 7: Pot Limit Omaha

The American, Aaron Gustavson, won his seat to EPT London through an online satellite at PokerStars. But well in the Main Event he showed that he's not only a great online poker player, but also great at playing poker live. He had twice as much chips as Peter Eastgate (2nd place) and Martin Gudvangen (3rd place) as the Main Event Final Table of EPT London started, and this big lead he had no plans to let go off.
It came to be Aaron Gustavson and Peter Eastgate who stayed in the lead all the way to heads-up. At this moment, Aaron, had twice as much chips as Eastgate. But as we all know, Peter Eastgate, has a lot of experience when it comes to televised final tables when the pressure is on top. However, Aaron, managed to remain calm, and it took him no time to knock out his final opponent (Peter Eastgate).

PartyPoker once had a great campaign called "The Million Dollar Hand" that gave all their players a fair chance of winning lots of money by just playing at any of their poker tables. Now this great campaign is back again, and it will run between October 5h and October 30th.
This is how it works For each 15 points you accumulate you will receive a card from the deck. When you have collected 5 cards and can make one of the hands below, then you will get your bonus paid out. For example the best hand in poker, a Royal Straight Flush gives $1,000,000, and a pair gives $3. There is no limit for how many times each bonus can be paid out. This means that more than one player can take home the $1,000,000 bonus for a Royal Straight Flush.

The Main Event of EPT London has been one of the most interesting and exciting tournaments for a quite some time. Especially for those who have followed the World Champion and PokerStars Pro Peter Eastgate and his amazing comeback in the tournament.
Peter Eastgate had to fight really, really hard to make it to Day 3 of the tournament. But during Day 3 he showed everyone that it takes more than luck to become the World Champion as he played fantastic poker throughout the day. Thanks to his great play in Day 3 he had now built up a quite big stack and was on 10th place out of 24 remaining players.

During the night between Sunday and Monday, three men broke into a house in North Carolina (USA) where a poker game with around 30 people was held. The three robbers were all armed, 2 of them had handguns and one had a rifle. The man with the rifle used his rifle butt to knock down 2 of the poker players before firing a shot into the wall and demanding the other poker players to lay down on the floor.
The robbers then escaped with an unknown amount of money from the house, and still the police haven't been able to catch anyone of them. However, the police are going to continue the search for the three men until they get some results according to Winston-Salem Journal in North Carolina.

111 players made it to Day 3 in the Main Event of EPT London. Among them were some of the hottest names in poker at the moment. For example: Annette Obrestad, Peter Eastgate, Kevin Schaffel, and many more.
The tournament organizers had planned to play down to 24 players in Day 3 of the tournament, but for a long time it seemed like it wouldn't be that way. It was just thanks to some very late eliminations that everything went as planned. Among the 24 survivors we find some of the youngest and most successful players there are at the moment.

Luke "__FullFlush1__" Schwartz, is well known for being a great poker player who has won lots of money during his poker career. He's also known for another thing, and that is that he got banned from The Vic Casino in London after that he refused to take off his hat.
His friend, Eddie Hearn, is a very well known bookmaker and also a good friend of Luke. When Luke wanted to play EPT London at The Vic Casino, his friend Eddie Hearn of course wanted to help him out and therefore he decided to speak to the management. Eddie Hearn's talk with the management was successful and he managed to revoke Luke's ban. It seemed like the issue between The Vic management and Luke Schwartz finally was solved. But after that Luke got knocked out of EPT London during Day 2, he's once again banned.
