Winnipeg-Boston Bruins 02:00 2,45 3,80 2,35
Bruins team scope: Boston begins a six-game road trip after a 9-2 home loss against the Los Angeles Kings on Tuesday. Coach Claude Julien altered his forward lines Wednesday, according to the Bruins website. Matt Beleskey moved to the left wing of a line with center David Krejci and David Pastrnak. Loui Eriksson skated with Ryan Spooner and Jimmy Hayes. "It wasn't just offense, but the different looks," Julien said of the alterations. "I think if you can try something different that will maybe help spark things for different people, then you make those moves." Julien has not confirmed whether Tuukka Rask, who was pulled in the loss Tuesday after allowing five goals, will start. Otherwise, backup goalie Jonas Gustavsson would start.
Jets team scope: Goaltender Connor Hellebuyck is expected to start for Winnipeg, though coach Paul Maurice has not confirmed. Hellebuyck's 13 wins tie him with Mike Condon of the Montreal Canadiens among rookie goaltenders. The Jets did not practice Wednesday after completing a 2-0-0 Central Division road trip. "The on-ice product the last two games, for me, is a function of preparation," Maurice told the Jets website. "Every team has to find its soul, and how it gets itself ready. We've been right there the last two games, as good as we've been all year, where you're wired into the game and ready to go. That's a big deal. We're back skating, we're competing on pucks. We're battling and when it all goes bad, we're getting a block or a save." Pavelec (knee) made the road trip, but a return date has not been set; he has been out since Nov. 21.

A battle of two teams stuck in the basement of the Eastern Conference. The Toronto Maple continue their western road trip with a stop in Edmonton. The Leafs have a lot of injured players in their lineup my pick home team Edmonton GL.

Penguins team scope: Defenseman Trevor Daley, who left in the first period of a 3-0 loss Wednesday to the New York Rangers with an undisclosed injury, made the trip and is possible to play. "He was evaluated by the doctors and he'll be a game-time decision," coach Mike Sullivan told the Penguins website. "Any major injury has been ruled out." Ian Cole, a healthy scratch in seven straight, would likely enter the lineup if Daley is out. "It's not easy. Obviously, you want to be playing," Cole said. "You work hard in practice and try to stay as sharp as you can. That turns into your game so you try to stay sharp as best that you can." Pittsburgh held an optional workout Thursday. Crosby had his seven-game goal streak and 11-game point streak end against the Rangers. He had 12 goals and 10 assists over that span.
Hurricanes team scope: Defenseman Justin Faulk left practice early Thursday after colliding hard into the boards. Coach Bill Peters didn't have an update on Faulk's condition immediately after practice. Faulk's 34 points lead Carolina and his 15 goals are second to Skinner (19). Forward Kris Versteeg was back on the ice after missing practice Wednesday because of flu-like symptoms. Defenseman Ron Hainsey didn't practice. This is the first game in five days for the Hurricanes and the start of a three-game homestand; Carolina plays eight of its remaining 10 games this month at PNC Arena. Skinner has two goals and four assists during a five-game point streak. Jordan Staal has two goals and seven assists in his past seven games.
The Montreal Canadians winners of three straight games visit the Buffalo Sabers losers of 2 straight and seven games under the five hundred mark my pick Montreal.

Dallas-Washington Capit. 02:00 2,35 3,80 2,45
Capitals team scope: Center Evgeny Kuznetsov will play; he passed the NHL concussion protocol Thursday after leaving a 4-3 win against the Minnesota Wild during the third period. The Capitals, who have the best record in the NHL, have won five straight games, three of them by one goal and another in a shootout. Goaltender Braden Holtby started each of those games. Philipp Grubauer last started Feb. 2, a 5-2 loss in the first game following the All-Star break. The Capitals have 20 wins each at home and on the road, and are averaging 3.30 goals per game, best in the League. Washington ends a three-game road trip.
Stars team scope:. Dallas could have defenseman Jason Demers, who missed the 4-2 victory Thursday against the Chicago Blackhawks because of illness. Forward Travis Moen, who left that game with a lower-body injury, is out. The Stars, who are one point behind the first-place Blackhawks in the Central Division, are nine points back of the Capitals in the overall standings. "We like where we are at, but there is still a little to be desired where our game is," defenseman Alex Goligoski told the Stars website. "Little inconsistencies and details within the game we know we can get better at." Goligoski called the Capitals "a measuring stick for sure." Dallas, which has won five of its past six games, returns home after two road games and goes back on the road for its next three. The Stars have scored 180 goals, two more than the Capitals for most in the League.
