Florida-Minnesota Wild 23:55 2,30 3,80 2,50

Wild team scope: Coach Mike Yeo began with a completely new set of forward lines against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Saturday, but a sluggish start forced him to go back to his more traditional combinations. Minnesota outshot Tampa Bay 15-3 in the third period before eventually losing 3-2 in a shootout. "There was a lot going on," Yeo told the Star Tribune. "Just trying to spark some guys and find something that was going to click. Every game is different. Tonight, we were just naming numbers." With regular backup Darcy Kuemper on injured reserve because of a concussion, expect Devan Dubnyk to get his second start in as many nights. Dubnyk made 30 saves against the Lightning and has started seven of the past eight games.

Panthers team scope: Florida has won eight games in a row, a Panthers record, after defeating the New York Rangers 3-0 on Saturday to improve to 5-0-0 on their six-game homestand. "It's fun to be around the rink," captain Willie Mitchell said after the game. "Guys should be enjoying it but also learning from it and kind of knowing what we're doing to make ourselves successful and continue with that." The Panthers should get a boost with the expected return of Bjugstad, who has missed the past 15 games because of migraines. Bjugstad has seven goals and five assists in 23 games; his 24 goals led Florida last season.

Colorado Avalan.-L.A.Kings 03:00 2,60 3,80 2,20

Kings team scope: Injured center Jeff Carter (upper body) participated in an optional practice before the flight to Denver. Carter hasn't played since the first period of the Kings' 4-3 overtime win against the Arizona Coyotes on Dec. 26. Coach Darryl Sutter told the Kings website that Carter would travel with the team but did not say whether he will play. Forward Kyle Clifford (upper body) was not on the ice and hasn't skated since taking an elbow to the face in a 3-1 win against the Tampa Bay Lightning on Dec. 6. With a 2-1 victory against the Philadelphia Flyers on Saturday, the Kings have won five in a row. But Sutter would like to see more from his depth players. "There's times we have to get more out of our third pair and we've got to get more out of our third line. So now [Dwight King, Trevor Lewis and Dustin Brown] have been a little bit better, so that's helped us getting them in the lineup. I'd like to get more out of our fourth line in terms of not being in their own zone for as long as they are, things like that," Sutter said.

Avalanche team scope: Colorado did not practice Sunday, one day after a 4-0 loss to the visiting Calgary Flames. Forward Jarome Iginla missed a chance to score his 600th career goal against his former team and that possibility took away the team's focus, according to coach Patrick Roy. "Jarome is a team guy," Roy told the Avalanche website after the game. "I know he wants to see it, but the guys, at the same time, they would have loved to see that happen [Saturday] against Calgary." Roy also said the Avalanche have to play better at Pepsi Center, where they are 6-9-3. "We need to be better in our building. We need to dominate in our building and be more dangerous," he said. "We have to play better hockey again in our building." Defenseman Tyson Barrie returned Saturday after missing Thursday's game with flu-like symptoms. It was the second time the Avalanche were shut out this season. Goalie Semyon Varlamov has started 12 of the past 14 games. Colorado has gone 1-2-2 in its past five games.

Pittsburgh-Chicago 01:00 2,40 3,80 2,40

Blackhawks team scope: Forward Richard Panik, 24, could play, after being acquired in a trade with the Toronto Maple Leafs on Sunday. Chicago coach Joel Quenneville said Panik will start out with the Blackhawks after some "logistics" are solved. Panik has 19 goals and 39 points in 151 NHL games, and had 17 points (11 goals) last season for the Maple Leafs. He's played this season with the Toronto Marlies of the American Hockey League. "We see guys in the League who lose that opportunity [to play]," Quenneville said. "A new destination, new opportunity, new linemates, new team can rejuvenate some guys. The thing is, the opportunity, you have to take advantage of it, and he'll certainly be given the opportunity." Chicago didn't practice Monday and Quenneville hasn't announced his goaltending plan for the home-and-home set against Pittsburgh. Defenseman Rob Scuderi, whom the Penguins traded to Chicago on Dec. 14, will return to Pittsburgh for the first time since the trade.

Penguins team scope: Defenseman Trevor Daley, who was acquired from Chicago for Scuderi, also will face his former team for the first time since the trade. Defenseman Kris Letang, who had three points in each of the Penguins' past two games, was named the NHL's Third Star of the Week on Monday. Letang has eight points (two goals) in his first four games for coach Mike Sullivan, who took over on Dec. 12. Fleury is expected to start after making 38 saves in the Penguins' 5-2 win against the New York Islanders on Saturday. It would be his second start since returning from an eight-game absence for a concussion. Pittsburgh is 4-1-1 in its past five games and looking for its third straight win. Sullivan will use the same lineup as the past two games, with Chris Kunitz and David Perron flanking captain Sidney Crosby on the top line and Matt Cullen adding grit to the second line. "It helps when you have some consistency to your approach," Sullivan told the Penguins' website after practice Monday. "We have right now what we think is a consistent group. We'll take that as it comes. The last couple of games we've been pleased with the effort as a group, and that's why the lineup hasn't changed."

Colorado-St.Louis Blues 04:00 2,40 3,80 2,40

Blues team scope: Captain David Backes missed his second practice in three days because of an upper-body injury, but he will play, coach Ken Hitchcock said. "He's dealing with an upper-body ailment that'll keep him off of practice for the next week, but he'll be able to play the games, no problem," Hitchcock said. Backes sustained the injury in a 4-1 loss at the Toronto Maple Leafs on Saturday. Kyle Brodziak has regained his spot as the Blues' fourth-line center. Brodziak, who recently missed five games with a skate cut above his right knee, was scratched from a 3-2 overtime loss to the Ottawa Senators on Monday because the coaching staff thought he needed some more conditioning. "It's pretty simple. Since coming back, I don't think I've felt the greatest on the ice, and the coaches recognized it," Brodziak said. "It's just an opportunity to take a few days and get some good skates in, just try to get my legs back under me." Goalie Jake Allen will start.

Avalanche team scope: Defenseman Erik Johnson will not play after he sustained a lower-body injury Monday in a 4-1 win against the Los Angeles Kings. "It could be five, 10 days, 12 days ... short term," coach Patrick Roy told the Avalanche website. Colorado claimed defenseman Andrew Bodnarchuk off waivers from the Columbus Blue Jackets on Tuesday. Bodnarchuk, 27, could make his Avalanche debut against the Blues. "With the injury to Brad Stuart (back), I think we just want to have some depth to our defense," Roy said. "That was the plan behind this. We believe that he's going to help us." Stuart has been out since Nov. 10. Varlamov will play against St. Louis. Jarome Iginla needs one goal to tie Jari Kurri for 18th in NHL history (601).
